How to use a toilet snake [auger]

Thanks for showing me how to use a toilet auger without talking 15 minutes about other nonsense first. I’m a widow & rely on these videos so I don’t have to call a handyman that charges a $100 to do a 5 minute job then tries to tell me I need other things done when I really don’t.

Went to Ace hardware store to buy a snake (FYI- any snake works , got mines for $18) . I followed your instructions to a T and after 2 times of “snaking” the toilet , flushed right down. As a former journeyman for a general contractor/plumber when I was in college, I had forgotten how to auger a toilet. I could not get the auger head through the traps. With heavy downward force, I could only get about a foot when the auger would coil back out. Spent two sessions for over an hour doing this. Frustrated, I watched several videos. THIS VIDEO is by far how I remember Eddy, the plumber/contractor taught me. You have to spin the handle w/downward pressure, just like Micheal shows. Let the auger head work by spinning and a lil angled pressure. Thanks.
