Join me, Farmer Grayce, as I take on a journey back in time to bring my first love, a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 5-speed with a 5.9 Cummins engine, back to life. It's been a silent sentinel on my farm for the last three years, but today, I'm determined to break that silence. Watch as I tackle the broken pedal assembly and stumble into a fuel injection mystery that's keeping my old friend from roaring once again. This isn't just about fixing a truck; it's about rekindling memories and the satisfaction of overcoming mechanical challenges. Will patience and perseverance pay off? Let's find out together.

One of the things I like about you is that you're not afraid of a little grease and a lot of work.
  • I like how the videos are genuine and you're not afraid to get dirty. Society should be celebrating hard working women like this not these only fan types. Good job!

Hi Grayce I am a retired school bus mechanic and farmer and the cummins ISB that is what is in your pickup truck the lift pump is a common problem the pump can run but not put out enough fuel pressure to keep the engine running you need at least 2 psi of fuel pressure to feed it. That is why I like my 1990 Dodge 5.9 Cummins 12 valve NO COMPUTER and all my farm machinery nothing has a computer every thing is a mechanical fuel pump

If you just bump the starter it will turn the lift pump on for a few seconds, you need to hear that running. Once that is working there should be a bleed screw on the top of the filter (can't remember exactly) open that till you get fuel with the lift pump running. Then crack the injection lines loose where they go into the cylinder head, crank the engine till fuel squirts out. The tighten line and it should start. Could be the injection pump went bad from setting, they were known for having issues, mostly was an electronic issue from overheating of the circuit board on the pump.
  • ECM is in the driver's side of the motor PCM is what you changed. Turn in the switch and see if fuel is coming out of the water bleader on the filter

I like the authenticness of these videos, i was waiting eagerly for it to start but sometimes it just doesn't, in many of these videos cars always magically start at the end.
  • Anytime a diesel engine has sat that long the first things you wanna do is put some good fuel treatment in the tank and change the fuel and air filters 😉

Soo close to getting it started!! Like how you're talking thru what you are doing!!. . It's trial and error... Don't give up you'll get going. .. great video!

your lift pump right behind your fuel filter at corner of block replace it then you’ll fire back up but don’t forget to bleed the lines

I have a 2000 dodge just like yours with the 5-speed. It really is gratifying to drive (sounds just like a semi-truck) so I understand your efforts to sustain her. Good luck!
  • Thanks for sharing the video Grayce. Hope you get it running soon.

Can't tell ya enough how many times people gone thru this scenario with a truck I did love grayce muscles 💪 a girl that doesn't sweat won't go far in life life keep pushing and no ive never been on live 📺

Grayce. Charge the batteries completely. If still codes, check the alternator to see if it is over or under charging. Dad has a 2001 and it was it. I even had the ECM rebuilt before finding it.
