Learn how to plant lavender cuttings today, on day 93. We are planting lavender cuttings we propagated by cuttings from a previous episode. Our lavender 🌿 cutting experiment is moving into a new phase. 😲👍
*This is an updated video from the first version.

Watch today's episode to see how well our cuttings rooted (spoiler 😲, not all of them rooted), see how we planted them, and what we planted them in. Definitely leave any questions and comments below about how we planted our cuttings, what soil we used, and if you have had any luck taking and then transplanting your lavender cuttings.

In case this is your 1st time watching one of our many videos, we've been filming a daily video since March 2020 when we went under quarantine (previously called the "Quarantined Gardeners"). We've been sharing and teaching others how we're gardening and spending our time throughout quarantine. Now that we aren't really quarantined, we still want to share our daily garden activities with you with a new name, "Spoken Garden Daily." We've run our small business, Spoken Garden, since 2018, and as gardeners, podcasters, and small business owners, we felt it was important to connect with and teach others gardening skills on YouTube. Come join us every day to see what we are doing in our garden and THANK YOU for watching and subscribing! 😀

Hey Everyone! Here is an updated video of us planting our lavender cuttings. We are sorry the audio was too loud at the second half of the previous version of this video. Hope this is better. Thank you for watching and your comments.

    Thank you! That’s exactly I wanna know👍

There are many natural rooting hormones that will help with new root development. You may have some if them in your own home or yard! Aloe vera gel, cinnamon, aspirin, acv, and honey, to name a few. 🌞

I am SO EXCITED to find you! Spoken Garden is the first set of videos that will be super helpful to me, living in Western Washington! (I saw your Seahawks shirt, so I read "About" you!)
  • How could the peat potts soil keep them too wet if the water mason jar is suspended in pure water?
  • @cityfoodiefarm
Thanks amazing!! I think I like the water method!! What other plants can you propagate? This gives me an idea! Thank you!!
  • @andra_red
I had to do the water method an cactus soil method to my lavender. Bc it was dying. I have 20 cuttings total hopefully I get at least 1

I always use soil "MIX" which has no dirt and allows the roots to easily sprout, allows air & avoids rotting the cuttings. If you still use soil, I add a lil oxygen Peroxydide in my water (secret of gardners)

I love seeing your progress! I’m going to start some lavender cuttings in water this week to see what happens. Did you keep the cuttings in a greenhouse? And if I don’t have a greenhouse what environment do you recommend is best?
  • @dokterjanet
Hi, I’m from Indonesia😊, love your videos. Btw, how often do you change the water ? Did you just add more water to the jar or did you change the whole water every other day? Thank you
  • @bingxinwang9710
Thank you for sharing this video? I was wandering, How long it takes for the water method to get roots?
  • I took 6 cuttings a month ago ,put in water in a glass jar and today 2 have roots, only a inch long ,will leave in jar to grow the roots until about 2/3 inch long then will pot.
  • How long did it take before the roots to show? How long between cutting start and repot was it? I’m trying my hand at lavender propagation...have my own experiment going, but not sure what’s standArd speed for rooting

Hello there, complicated question: 1)I live in the San Francisco East Bay which is zone 9B. 2)I bought a "leggy" lavender with a lot of "hard wood". 3)It's not doing well, so I need to do a late summer/almost Autumn emergency propagation. That being said, is there any way of using the hard wood stems? Do I need to shave about a cm of the proximal part of the stem to expose the cambium layer (similar to camellia grafting prep. work)? I have to use the "water method", as placing it in soil would be a lot of watering discipline. I just don't have the time, as I work in the emergency ambulance field. also, everything dries out in the area really fast. ~Henry~

Neato. I have a couple of questions, and I apologize in advance if this was already covered: For the cuttings grown in water, did you add any sort of plant food or fertilizer to the solution or is it just H2O? My second question is, what were the other environmental conditions in which the cuttings were stored such as, indoors/greenhouse, full or partial sun, artificial lamps, etc...
