  • As a rink owner I appreciate your honest review. I check all toe stops especially kids, if you have a worn out toe stop or (jam plug) can do some damage to the floor as well as inlines however we do allow those and even rent them. I think they shoulda let you use them if you didnā€™t have the brake. But onto the floor itā€™s amazingly hard to upkeep a hardwood floor. Ours is 75 years old this year and isnā€™t Perfect by any means but weā€™ve put a lot into it to keep it up. Iā€™ve skated on concrete floors and that skate court stuff id take a beat up wooden floor anyday or just skate outside lol anyways appreciate your review!

Reminds me of when I worked at an airsoft field and I had a coworker that had a stick up his ass about certain players' equipment and intentionally made customers' experiences unpleasent and a hassle if they dressed in ways he didn't like. Some people working in recreation just get a kick out of being able to ruin someone's fun.
  • Ah no worries bro. Just one guy with a bad attitude.... maybe he was having a bad day. I would write to the owner and tell them about your experience and get them to change their policy (or educate the staff) as it doesn't make sense to ban all in-lines for a removable heel brake.

Damn! Sorry you had a bad experience. This is the rink I went to growing up. Floor deff needs some work, rink is a bit too small for my liking. Laurel is my favorite.

Love your videos, man! I just got into roller skating and watching you go around is a treat!

This skating ring has been sued many times. My first time going to this rink I was assaulted by a male employee, my brother, 11 and 13 year old sons came to my rescue. The fake security officer assaulted my 11 year old giving my son a fractured jaw. The police was called, the owner and security officer were in trouble. I did get a lawyer. We havenā€™t been to a skating ring ever again. Word on the street the owners of this ring has been in trouble many times, and does terrible business

I used to skate at Lanham Seabrook for at least 15 - 20 years but last experience several years ago changed my outlook of the "New Management" that is in place. Stopped by the rink for the early "old school" skate session that is held on Saturday's for more experienced skaters and the "Security" guard that was at the door stated that she had to inspect my backpack. She looks inside and saw my Gatorade and her reaction was as if I had a concealed weapon. She stated that I could not bring my Gatorade in the rink which, given the new management was understandable, but the overall tone/delivery was unacceptable given that I had skated there for about 2 decades. Needless to say, the older woman that was at the booth collecting monies for entry could not even look at me because she knew me and not that I was looking for a "pass", just looking to be spoken to in a professional/respectful manner. Needless to say, I complied and drove to Crofton Skate Center and that was my last experience at Lanham Seabrook. I used to dig the vibe there and the music but how the staff treats their patron's is a turn-off. No issues with driving further to skate. Understanding your "audience" is a key to a successful business
  • Our local small town family owned roller rink doesnā€™t allow in lines. The reasons being is that the floor isnā€™t finished like with that glossy stuff so the edges of the in lines would tear up the wood floor. But itā€™s most people who come donā€™t own their own skates and donā€™t mind in being quads.
  • @lauren6984
I went to this rink once but won't be back. I brought my inline skates and was pissed about that nonsensical rule. Then I kept tripping on the rough parts of the floor in the rental quads. Doesn't seem worth it to go here when there's other options in the area.
  • @HSWilliams
Sounds a bit like they're blaming the quality of the floor on the skaters. Which I get a bit, when I first went to a rink I didn't think they'd let me use my skates because I didn't have wheels specifically for indoors, but they didn't care. Never thought about breaks, but makes sense, they'd be more likely to gouge or scratch up the floor if they were worn off.

I planned on going here for the first time today (Thursday). Iā€™ve been looking for rinks to go to. Itā€™s a 30 min drive. Iā€™ll look into the other one ppl are talking about. Thank you!
  • @desdub
Dang, sorry this happened. I definitely won't be trying out that rink. Just want to skate and have a good time. Great review.
  • @KamStarrKS
Man it really changed a lot based on your review. Cause itā€™s been a long time since Iā€™ve been there cause my pops used to dj up there and I knew some of the older staff but it seems like based on that guy at the skate rental section was new. But man it sucks that it changed so much over time cause it used to be a good environment though. Sorry that you had to go through that man. I was thinking about revisiting up there again but based on the review you gave I donā€™t think I need to. By the way man you really have some smooth moves on skates man that was nicešŸ”„šŸ’Æ
  • @TreseMari
Glad to know. Nobody wants to waste their time & money at a place like that, and especially not wear your own skates. On an adult night, at that, people who have their own skates have put good $ into them because they don't want to be wearing crappy rentals.
  • @freddempster4085
A local rink, now closed, did kind of the same. No blades allowed and to really help move things along they never coated the floor. Instead, they used rosin, a carcinogen, on the floor. That was 25 yrs ago. The whole place was bought, torn down and made into a more profitable free parking lot for a nursing home. I have 4 sets on inline speed skatesā€¦three of which never were on pavement and only used inside on maple. One set was used occasionally on a bike path. Three of the four sets were purchased at local skating rinks along with fistfuls of bearings and supplies. Imagine all the little kids getting blades, going there and not being able to use them. The adult skate looked kind of busy, but the population base is large in MDā€¦what does Friday and Saturday night look like?
  • @Raidragon1951
Man Iā€™m sorry to hear that. Looks like a cool place but sucks when things are divided. Are you planning to come back to Vegas by chance? Be dope to skate with you.
  • @ThatWisco5.3
Hey! If you ever wanted to try ice skating and or going to a decent Roller Rink. Try Pettit National Ice center Oct 1st-March 31st. For Roller go to Waukesha Skateland. (South Eastern Wisconsin)

  • @bonecrusha2012
Lol sup bro! Crystals is my go-to every time between the two. They just revamped their floor and now they get super OC about trying to protect it as you experienced. They ask to see both skates because some people go harder on one toe vs. the other (me lol). I experienced the same thing with them so much so that they told me I had to replace both of my dance floors before I came backā€¦never changed my plugs annnnnd never have gone back šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ Crystals or Ana for me it was until I moved back to Atlanta.
