Here is a mule deer buck that I have trail cam videos and videos of in hunting season. I was filming this deer and as he started to run he dropped his left side, bedded down after running 400 yds, I stalked behind a small brush and waited 25 minutes until the buck decided to start running again and shaking off his right side with the drop tine.

I love how Buck is staring directly at you from like 300 yards away. ...zoom out, and he's basically beyond camera visual range.

I learned two things here 1. Mule deer antlers are a little more thick than I originally thought... and 2. That dude has a really good camera
  • That’s incredible! Not just finding the antlers but getting it on film while the deer sheds them. Outstanding

I wondered why this happens, so I looked it up: Antlers grow from a pedicle, which is the attachment point to the animal's skull. When a buck's testosterone levels drop after the rut or mating season, a new bone cell called an osteoclast removes the existing bone tissue between the pedicle and antlers, causing them to fall off.

You can see how annoyed he is when only one antler came off, he's just shaking his head like "son of a B"

I've always wanted to find a pair of deer antlers. This makes me realize that unless I watch the deer drop them, I'll probably never find a matched set
  • Absolutely fantastic--the buck, the antlers, the dropping/falling of the antlers, the camera, and this guy's patience!
  • Finding one dropped antler in a field is cool, finding a matching set is incredible. Filming the deer dropping them no less! Amazing

This is natures way of saying a rare item has dropped you cant leave until you find it
  • I found a deer antler once when i was a kid, around 10-11 years old, just a small one from the deers in Sweden we call 'Rådjur'. I still has it and i'm 25 now. Also have an acient reindeer crown trophy from my great grandfather hanging in my bedroom. It's around 130 years old now. They were a gift from my grandfather on my mothers side. They are so precious to me.

He's like "oh no, did that human really just film that? How embarassing!"

I found a large antler in an English woodland. Had a cursory look for its partner, but it was probably shed miles away. Still, the one I have looks good on my hall table. Lucky you, getting a pair like that! And thanks for catching it on film. That must have taken a lot of patience.

Brilliant footage. I appreciate your patience in acquiring these beautiful antlers humanely ( :

they just straight up fall off that's weird I didn't know that
  • Imagine being in your car seeing that bad boy and you turn to your wife saying. Babe, there is this massive ass buck! Then you just look over and it looks like a doe🤣🤣

I’ve never seen it happen before. A deer shedding its antlers. That was really neat!! And what a good score! Both! The shedding on camera and collecting the antlers!!! Just so cool! ❤️💜💚

It’s nature’s process of planting more deer: various events occur, like depositing the seed while traveling, so that more grow and spread out even further in a continuous cycle

A relative of mine had a farm for whitetail deer to be raised and released to help the population, and although I've found several shed deer antlers in the wild in my life, even on that farm with all sorts of opportunity to observe bucks from the comfort of the house, no one in our family had ever actually seen them drop off as it happened. I've never even seen it on film before. Amazing that both were caught on film at the same time!

Never seen that before! Thought they just fell off. No idea the buck was aware and active in the process. Awesome, thank you!
