EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 5: The series “clicked” for me and I’m addicted now

All of a sudden the game really clicked for me and out of nowhere I found myself fully onboard for whatever the franchise has in store next! (Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain) I have currently converted two of my friends and my wife to the co-op EDF cause and it is a blast to play with some buddies.

The game seems silly at first glance, but it is just extremely fun. Playing as the jetpack chick with the Lance weapons (short range lasers basically) is the most fun I have had on console in ages.

This series is seriously one of the most fun and engaging I’ve come across in all of my years of playing video games. Long live the EDF and Inferno or go home.

We know that in this reboot of the EDF universe, we are on an earth where ants, spiders and frogs do not exist and no earthlings are able to recognize them or find them in any way familiar.

as an EDF series veteran is it just absolutely amazing to hear newcomers to the series just.... "get it" about these games, and have such a blast with them.

SciFi Channel should get down with this. Those ants and suits are amazing.

EDF has always only been interested in one thing and that's being, pure, uninterrupted arcade fun. It does it with no frills and no pretensions. It's a video game and it damn well knows it.

The story telling while simple is actually very good as the tone was consistent from start to finish, especially how the story unfolds.

Okay... not a challenge at the beginning? One word: Inferno I’ve never seen a game in my life that actually made shooting a Enemy such a rewarding and tactically pleasing task. Being on top of a building, and firing a plasma cannon at a mech and doing so for serval minutes adjusting aim to throw off his aim was fantastic, the buildings around me crumbled as he barely missed and his aim was thrown off by my plasma canon, the buildings behind him crumble form the shockwaves of the plasma canon hitting him and my missed shots, my being forced back as he would destroy my building cover... The entire game is just, rewarding Nevermind the fact there was 7 other of those fuckers around the map and I was dealing with just 1 of them

Wait until you reach mission 41 and beyond. Around that point, this game takes off its gloves (if you can even imagine it was wearing any to begin with) and starts becoming noticeably more chaotic than it already is lol. Just reached mission 90, myself. Apparently, this game has 110 campaign missions so i'm getting close to the end. Just 20 more to go...and no end to the chaos in sight lol.

I feel like I’m the one of the rare Air Raider players who uses the Medic vehicle instead of a tank or some offensive vehicle online. Even in 4.1 I hardly saw anybody using the Armored Caravan Support vehicle besides me. But hell whenever I was in a lobby everybody swarms to me because I’m the Medic I even changed my characters colors to white and red xD
