Sid isn't really guilty of anything. The director said that even though he's the opposite of Andy, he's not a bad kid. He's actually a rather typical boy. Andy is an idealized version of a child playing with his toys, but Sid is a more realistic depiction. Cause let's be honest, most kids aren't as innocent as Andy. Or at least I wasn't. Since Sid didn't know that toys are sentient, he cannot be charged with cruelty. He was just displaying some genuine creativity and engineering on inanimate objects

Sid killed Combat Karl. Thatās murder. He also showed one of his mutilated āpatientsā to his sister for purposes of causing emotional traumaāthat has to be a crime somehow.

To add a missing charge for Sid, he murdered Combat Carl via explosion. That is worth 6 years in toy prison and a life sentence.
