Just your mortgage and debt payment is 50% of your income, that's pretty intense!
  • @abbaan
"Just because one month looks this way doesn't mean every month going forward will look this way. It might look this way for a month, two months, or six months, but you can always improve things, and they WILL get better if you keep working at it." I'm in a dark place and I can't tell you how reassuring it was to hear you talk about this in this episode. Thank you Lauren!

Love this channel. Don’t feel bad, Lauren. We live on Long Island and we are really tight despite two relatively high paying jobs. Our finances are very similar to yours... Income, mortgage payment, etc. I’m the “financial” person but I feel similar to you. You are definitely doing well. You’ve got the right mindset, stay the course and trust the process. You got this 💪🏻
  • Oooo girl! I am so glad I’m not the only one crying while I budget. Thank you for sharing!!! Some months are up, some months are down. The important thing is that we’re still in the game. 🙌
  • @KatieoftheHouse
I’m glad you were able to reevaluate and make yourself feel a little better about this month’s budget. You are so right that not every month will be the same. And I just have to say: you have come a long way and are honestly in an amazing financial position. You have a fully funded emergency fund, sinking funds to cover anything else that pops up, your only debt is less than 3% interest, and while your pay yourself first may not be as big as you wanted it, I know your husband is still Investing out of his paycheck. You should definitely give yourself more credit with how far you’ve come! I have been here for quite some time, and I’m honestly amazed by you!
  • @AverysMoneyMoves
I feel you on the pay yourself first. Things have been so expensive lately that it is hard to get ahead. Also agree with what you said that not every month will be like this and that is a good attitude to have. It is just a season on your family's road to financial freedom.
  • @summerjoy247
We’re suppose to be doing 15% since we paid off debt and got our house, but it’s more like 8%. Oh well, gonna keep trying!
  • @OooshNBC
Would you consider doing a month-long grocery/dining out challenge where you try to (for example) cut your grocery/dining out funds by 50%, then the video will take viewers through how you accomplished this? I think that'd be a great video.
  • @tinalindahl8768
Try to contrite on the huge wins, like being in a home you love, sinking funds and a fully funded emergency fund. You have come so far!!!🎉
  • @chrisk4053
Love this ! So real and relatable!! Thank you Lauren❤

Hi Lauren, Thanks for sharing, you are doing a great job! Isn't it worrying that you can save so little with such a good income? Life has gotten really expensive! I understand that it can be frustrating, but your attitude is admirable and you should be so proud of yourself for achieving so much in the last few years!
  • @DebtFreeJessie
Oof, feeling the pinch with my upcoming budget, too. We finally have our roths dialed in & this is our first check with it on autopay and our smaller margin is going to a hard adjustment.
  • @amyjones4007
I’d encourage you to actually pay yourself first. Put your money in the ROTH first and work with that new balance. You can do it! 👍🏻
  • @shiela_a1990
great video Lauren! Can you please share your internet/cell company?
  • You should remember that all of your savings for sinking funds are basically paying yourself first. I think you can cut $500 per month on groceries. You could probably cut the household budget by $100 as well. You could cut your personal spending to $50 per month. This way it won't take 7 more years to pay off the student loan.
  • @turtlescanfly7
Our take home income is similar and our budget for a house payment is 3k but we can’t find anything in that price range. All the homes are 450k+. We have more time since our kid is 2 but I definitely want to be in a home before kindergarten starts. There’s so much anxiety about finding the right home and hoping it’s in the budget.
  • You're still paying yourself first with 401k contributions, but that doesn't show up when looking at net pay, correct?
  • @tammychewning964
I love your long hair, you look beautiful what products do you use? I'm sooooo proud of you.........
