Life + Work at Northrop Grumman: Sunnyvale, California

I was hired in "65 as a Machinist helper and ended up working in the J-2 Machine shop on the Large Horizontal and Vertical Boring Mills. I really liked working there. I left in "76 after a layoff and ended up working at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center as a Lab Machinst 3 and after a layoff ended up at Lockheed in Sunnyvale as a Mfg Instructor and later owning my own shop in Campbell, Ca where i just recently retired at age 78 and now i'm taking care of my wife with Parkinsons. We have been married for 58yrs. But my heart belongs at Westinghouse where i started back in "65. where they taught me to become a Machinist and a man.

I have a lot of respect for this company. Jack Northrup was one of the greatest designers ever to live.

This is the old Westinghouse where my Dad worked for just over 40 years. Military contracts are their main source of revenue. The building such as J2, J3, J4 have been their since before WWI. Good place to work.

Failed to mention several departments that NG hires for like most businesses. It’s not all engineering. There’s logistics, supply chain, acquisitions, sales & negotiations, not to mention PHILOSOPHY was a major of a friend of mine and was hired etc.

Sure miss F-14 Tomcats Still the Best, Fastest and Sexiest Fighter Plane ever made. The F-14 is King when it goes into full Afterburner than Catapulted Launching the Fighter Interceptor off the Carrier Deck and all you Hear Loud Roaring Jet Engines and the Mighty Warrior F-14 Disappears into the Heavens.. The F-18 and F-35 don't even come close to the Wow Factor. Lol
