The line that sticks with me the most is “and you will never be alone” because it reminds me about how cults will manipulate people who are sad and feel alone into feeling like they are in a place where they are loved and never alone, despite cults not usually fulfilling that promise. This song is not about love. It’s about how people use love as an emotional weapon.

As someone currently trying to escape a cult (underage, one of my parents having been in a position of power within that cult) this resonates with me so much. It feels so friendly in the surface, but once you realize there’s something wrong there’s no going back. Imma show this to my sister, who is also trying to escape (but she’s like the one who does all the work cause she ain’t depressed 💀)
