It appears that time is running out for Alexander Albon at Red Bull. The Thai driver has so far struggled in his stint at Red Bull, although past successes make this lack of form hard to fathom. So, what on earth is going on with this guy and can he salvage the situation before Red Bull finally run out of patience?

Red Bull keeps changing their second driver like it’s musical chairs and expecting it to work

Something that didn't help his case was the media reporting he was under pressure after 2 races of the 2020 season. TWO. RACES.

Alex Albon is stuck in a rut. However, he can rebound. He needs to regain confidence again, and maybe relax a little and don't over think things. Red Bull need to get their act together and figure out how to run their driver programs. Gasly was promoted too soon, and so was Albon. Both should've spent 2 years at Toro Rosso/AlphaTauri before even being considered for the Red Bull seat.

some extra points for you guys: - 2012 when redbull dropped alex was also the year his mum went to prison. it's understandable that his results were the way they were. - in gp3, he was second vs charles leclerc and actually had more wins than charles..charles did win the championship tho due to more podiums and just better consistency. - in f2 in 2018, he pushed george russell until the final race of the final round, was the only driver still mathematically able to win the championship. - also, he would have beat lando to second easily if the f2 cars didn't have terrible clutches (look it up. its quite crazy, every round drivers were stalling on the grid, and lots of drivers complained..there's even a video of charlie whiting almost getting yeeted by some debris from someone rear ending a stalled car on the grid at that year's finale). - alex's race pace last year was actually really good, while pierre struggled to get within half a second of max's lap times, alex was consistently close to max's lap times. - although alex did finish roughly a minute down on max on average last year (which at a glance disagrees with my above point), the biggest difference between them was alex was constantly fighting with other cars (granted self inflicted due to poor qualifying), and that obviously is not as fast as just driving, but it also takes life away from the tires. - his racecraft is significantly better than pierres (not to shit on pierre cos i think he's a nice guy and a fast driver). there's the obvious ones to look at like his move around the outside of copse on kimi raikkonen, or his move on daniel ricciardo at mugello but he's had some really technically amazing overtakes too. the switchback t1, around the outside t3 move on perez at mugello was fricken amazing, or his move at spa on daniel ricciardo. And, if you wanna talk about those overtakes being against slower cars, i guess that's fair, but for that, he did overtake sebastian vettel to initially go into the podium places at interlagos last year. - the "they race me so hard" comment isn't actually that bad. like it's pretty bad, but not as bad as you all think. Alex was talking about the fact that both alpha tauris were racing so hard to the point of potentially ruining their own tyres and own races, just to get one over him because he's in the seat they want. it's pretty obvious that engineers often instruct their drivers not to fight with faster cars because it ruins tyres and their race is ruined but it was so obvious to the point where kvyat fricken locked up and cut the chicane.
  • I think he's just lost his confidence. He clearly can race but he's driving a car designed around one person not the team. I think they need to drop Albon to Alpha Tauri and have him partner Gasly, they would be formidable! Then get Perez in to cover the seat for next season.

Raghunathan is the direct reason for albons performance confirmed

Put him in another team, arm around him, and he'd be achieving results. Red Bull is a poisonous team, if you're not the "chosen one" (verstappen, vettel) it takes an incredibly strong character to survive there - Ric and Webber were both experienced, bit older, and are strong minded Aussies. Everyone else has underperformed but I feel that's down to red bull

I'd hate to be a young driver at Red Bull. Unless you deliver good results fast they toss you away like yesterday's paper. Considering how many Red Bull academy drivers proved really good in other racing series it's fair to say the pressure at the Red Bull F1 team is immense. Look at how well Sebastian Buemi and Jean-Eric Vergne are doing in Formula E (3 titles between them). Buemi also won Le Mans 3 times and 2 WEC titles. Gasly got a podium for Toro Rosso when he was pushed out of Red Bull last season and won with the renamed Alpha Tauri at Monza this year. Then there's Carlos Sainz.

“Look I know the joke is overused but it’s tradition 😁” hahahaha
  • Albon: Guy's the car is unstable in high speed corners Marko: Hmmm Max what do you think? Verstappen: It's not perfect but it suits me, I can drive it well. Albon: Yeah but I just think we could do with some more front wing Horner: Shush Alex, Max said the car is good Max: Yeah it's good...needs a bi more front wing though Horner: okay great feed back Max we'll get on it Alex: But guys we need to... * Everyone leaves the room* How I imagine race debriefs going in the RB motorhome
  • @matthias2756
Albon’s home life during his junior racing career was pretty rough, might explain the inconsistency
  • @DaveEd2499.
I feel like we need to clarify that Albon had some serious family issues going on in his private life during his early career
  • @hamsamich9
Albon: I can smell the Podium! Hamilton: Nah mate.
  • @byFoxi
Albon had a 20 place engine penalty in Spa in 2019. that’s why he was last

Meanwhile in the redbull hospital: doctor: "well this patient is still sick, give him more of the medicine!" nurse: "But this medicine doesn't work for that patient.." doctor: "THIS MEDICINE WORKED FOR MAX OVER THERE! SO WHY DOESNT IT WORK FOR THIS PATIENT?!" nurse: But...theyre different people with different problems... doctor: "Fuck it! if hes not going to try get better just throw him out, look max is fine so theres no excuse for other patients to not be fine!!" meanwhile at Alfa Tauri hospital: "Heres the medicine you need to get better"
