  • Honestly I wouldn’t hate it except for the fact that the meter goes up faster for the losing player, so it doesn’t even reward winning

    People don’t realize smash meter is weaker than smash ball, a lot of these final smashes in the video wouldn’t kill with smash meter

  • I think it'd be a really fun side mode, but having it as the main mode of play, for the reasons mentioned in the video, not to mention the main way you get smash meter is by getting hit so "I win" situations become worse, (sorry sheik, you missed your final smash so now you're gonna hit your opponent enough to give them 3/4 of the bar just to make the stocks even). Also the activation of final smashes being with neutral b makes a lot of the camping situations even more awkward since characters like ryu or shulk cant use the to approach, while characters like samus and wii fit that heavily relly on it for their zoning are forced to awkwardly rush without their most important tools

    I definitely don’t think it should be in the main singles rule set, but I think it should be a much more common side bracket

    That's easily a hard no. Not only does FS Meter reward those who are losing more than winning, but it inherently makes the games way more campy than it should. FS Meter Smash Attacks also do 35% less damage and knockback than they normally would, so some final smashes are inherently way stronger than others in terms of that. It's simply way too polarizing in a metagame that's built around robbing stocks already.

    Lowkey i think a good place to experiment with it in tournament would be a doubles bracket. Final smash would not steal stocks quite as early, would be much more risky because of the threat of hitting your teammate, and doubles is not typically the main even anyways (so it wouldn’t ruin the whole tournament, it would just be experimental)

    This will just cause the same problems as it did at launch. The FS Meter goes up way more when you take damage, adding another comeback mechanic for everyone that rewards losing, Final Smashes are insanely unbalanced with some characters having nearly completely useless Final Smashes and others having completely broken Final Smashes that would completely carry them (so while you won't have a meta relevant Sonic, you'll end up getting a meta relevant Zelda which could end up being worse depending on how you look at it), and someone getting the Final Smash encourages the other player to camp and wait for it to go away.

    6:03 falco would become top 1 because he can scrooge to the other ledge from a given ledge. He can only become invincible once, but 6 loops (max ledge grabs w/o touching the ground) is more than enough. This would be a cool side bracket (make the game 4 stocks), but not in a real tournaments.

    Meter would only work if we had more stocks to play. It would be basically a 2 or 1 stock game with meter on

    In this game final smash is get close to somebody, press B, watch a cut scene, the opponent dies. Very few are cool attacks that are unique.

    I just wish Final Smashes weren't literally the worst desgined super mechanic in a fighting game. Sure, make them super strong and break shield I guess, but WHY are they almost virtually unpunishable on whiff? And every mechanic that they added to it literally does the opposite of what they wanted. The decay just promotes camping, and they added the comeback factor, but it's still harder to make a comeback because you lose a chunk of FS meter when you die anyways, so you're not just at a stock disadvantage but a meter disadvantage too.

    No LMAO. unless we want the game to generally become campier then we keep it banned bc this allows most of the cast to kill off one hit with a baby mode easy button to land

    How would you guys feel if there was a Final Smash meter of some sort that filled when you land parries? Maybe... 5 parries? (Obviously once a game)
