I dare you guys to count how many times I said "bamboo", "wood" or "tree farm"

For players who don't build tree farms (which is most of them), the only difference is that they won't have to waste time chopping down trees so they can focus on the parts of the game that interest them more.
  • @TarsonTalon
Other woods are needed for construction. The way I see it, the bamboo wood farm simply covers all you needs for crafting, allowing you to horde the other wood types for building. This will be especially important when certain mods like 'Scape and Run: Parasites' update to the newest version. Bamboo is the perfect apocalypse material.

I like how Redstone tree farms is one of the most complicated farms you could ever build just to get a resources that are probably be easier to get by doing it manually.
  • @trued7461
okay but 99% of minecraft players arent building tree farms, so why would Mojang cater to those players instead of the larger percentage of people who just want a different wood to build with.
  • @brucetoons
I think the difference between this and things like the Elytra or other things is that it's a building block, it will never make other woods obselete because Other woods work better for certain builds. Most builders don't just make a build and say, "I need some wood", they say "I need some ___ wood" because each of the wood types works better for different builds.

I don’t mind having an easy filler wood type for chests and sticks and the like. Less grind when you need to make a large amount of chests for a storage system. But I’m still going to want variety in my wood types and to build my stuff out of some of the better looking wood, like spruce. (because those doors and trapdoors are just 👌)

i feel like this isn't as big of a problem as hes making it out to be-

for over 90% of the playerbase a tree farm is as simple as planting a sapling either bonemaling it or letting it grow then cut it down not to mention that builds will always use the different types of wood
  • Nope, it doesn't invalidate the other wood types. Sure you can get a hut built out of bamboo if you only care about survival, but with Minecraft being all about creativity, you will want to use other types of wood sooner or later for the look of it alone.

This is really only an issue if you don’t care about aesthetics at all. I would say even most players who aren‘t directly builders build some houses and try to make their farms look somewhat nice. I think it‘s cool that they added a type of wood that is easier to obtain for crafting but I will always use most wood for building which bamboo can‘t replace.
  • I like the idea of an easy to produce wood type. The other types look better, so you would want to use those in fancy looking builds. While, if you just need wood or filler material, you'd just auto farm bamboo. They both serve a purpose.
  • I'm a builder and redstoner in one, and yes, this will be much more convenient for some recipes, but I also need massive amounts of specific wood types for mega builds, so tree farms are always gonna be useful
  • Since azalea and nether tree farms can run without any player interaction and don't require crafting bamboo into logs I'm fine with bamboo's balance. Bamboo is now the perfect early game or quick-to-build tree farm for those that don't mind crafting
  • @HACSSuperbMiner
In order to get bamboo in the first place you’d need to find a jungle biome, and those can be thousands of blocks away, depending on where the player’s spawn point. I guess that helps bamboo wood not be too overbearing. Either way new wood types are never a bad thing (at least for me)
  • @Ben-li9zb
The worst that could happen is that bamboo is used slightly more often then other wood types. But its not like players ever have to deal with a wood scarcity unless they're building, in which case this is a non issue
  • @ZLongHead
Me who doesn't wanna waste a couple hours trying to build a tree farm: "I see this as an absolute win!"
  • @Deas-Mhumhna
Wood has never been anything more than starter material and decor. Even in survival, you get to a point when the properties no longer matter and you just going for what looks nice. So bamboo is not invalidating anything. You still need wood for basic materials and it looks cool for log cabins or rustic houses. I think its cool to add bamboo. Plus, no one is making wood farms these days.
