My Message To Mikel Arteta…

Published 2023-03-13
Mikel Areta has completely proved me wrong. Arsenal Football Club are simply unstoppable in the Premier League.

I was wrong about Mikel Arteta. Unlike other content creators, I owe up to my mistakes ok. I don’t change my opinion every week. I don’t create clickbait thumbnails and titles to get a reaction. In this video, I shall tell you what exactly I said about Arteta, the handsome bastard, what changed my mind and where I see Arsenal finishing in the league.

Do you remember a time when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was the Man Utd manager, Frank Lampard was the Chelsea manager and Arteta was newly appointed as the Arsenal manager? Get ready for this, I thought Arteta would be the first manager from that list to get sacked. Oh boy, I was wrong. Since that opinion, Lampard has gone to Everton and been sacked again. And Ole, like most Man Utd fans in the last few days, has gone into hiding. Tbf I think he needs a holiday for the next 5 years. He had a baby face and now looks his actual age because of the Utd job.

Tbf there have been times when Arteta has been close to being sacked. Remember the first few games right after the first lockdown and they got embarrassed by the likes of Brighton. That was peak AFTV.

What kept Arteta in the job and survive those tough times was that he had credit in the bank by winning the FA Cup and that 2021 summer transfer window when they signed young players such as Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, etc. Last season he had the youngest Premier League team. So it was a win-win for him. Do well, he’s overachieving, do badly the team is inexperienced.

It’s still the second youngest team, right behind Southampton, but with the addition of experienced champions like Jesus and Zinchenko. They are in a title charge which no one saw coming
I was also wrong to an extent when I believed it was wrong to get rid of Aubameyang. In the short term, maybe I’m right because they failed to finish in the top 4 last season after spending 4-5 months in the top 4 places.

But looking at it in now, 14 months later he has made the completely right decision. I mean Aubaemywang is not even in the Champions League squad for Chelsea. He does seem like a bad apple - sneaky off and travelling the world. He is a typical modern player. No loyalty and cares about that sweet paycheck.

What’s really impressed me with Arteta is that he has copped well with injuries, especially to the likes of Jesus. He put his faith in Nketiah who has done well. He also went out to get Trossard as ESR has been out for large parts of the season and he can play at that false nine positions.

His game management is also spot-on - particularly in Arsenal’s last premier league game. He subbed off Tomiyasu to bring on Ben White who scored the goal. He was originally signed for a CB but has turned into one of the best right-backs in the league. He brought on ESR who got an assist. And of course, he brought on Reece Nelson who scored that electric winner.

Arteta has turned Emirates into a fortress for the first time ever. And i think that late goal vs Bournemouth was the loudest the Emirates has ever been and so many fans stayed behind when the game was over.

This season Arsenal have scored 3 late winners. Man United. Aston Villa. Bournemouth. It’s a never say die attitude that he has instilled in his team which makes them a frightening side.

So where do I see Arsenal finishing in the league? I originally predicted them to finish 5th, outside the top 5 again. I think he needs to win 4 more games as they have the top 4 secured. They are 5 points clear and they still need to go to the Etihad. That right there is a must not lose the game. We saw Man United have an 8 point lead before to City, lost at the Ethiad and it began to crumble.

Arsenal have harder fixtures than City in my opinion. Still have to go to Anfield, hungry for top4 places and terrible record there. Must go away to Newcastle and have Wolves on the last day of the season.

If I had to predict, I think Man City will win the league. Arsenal fans might make a case about European football. I believe for Arsenal you get out of that competition and just forget about it. Have 1 game a week and fully focus on the league. No side has ever won the premier league whilst being in the Europa league knock out stages.
