Today we're breaking the top 20 best lines in Game of Thrones. Most of which are from the earlier seasons, but hey, there really isn't much competition from the later seasons.

Arya: "Lots of people name their swords." Hound: "Lots of c*nts."
  • @jman7319
Robert Baratheon (to Cersei): It’s a neat little trick you do. You move your lips and your father’s voice comes out.

One of my favorite lines is Arya as Fraye, after poisoning them, saying "Leave one wolf alive, and the sheep are never safe."
  • “Nothing fucks you harder than time.” That line by Davos is just straight facts.

Season 1 Dialogue: The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword. Season 8 Dialogue: sHe'S mUh qUeEn bOi
  • @dorfkind8571
Season 3: "Chaos is a ladder". Season 8: "I hAvE bAlLs AnD yOu DoN't."

Alliser Thorne: "You always know when a man is telling a lie. How did you acquire this magical power?" Maester Aemon: "I grew up in Kings Landing."
  • One of my favourites from the later seasons: Jaime Lannister - "There are always lessons in failures" Olenna Tyrell - "Yes, you must be very wise by now." The Queen of thorns spoke her mind, and her mind spoke thorns.
  • Not even a mention of "How can a man be brave if he is afraid?" "That is the only time a man can be brave." It says so much about Ned and Robb's character.
  • "I'm not questioning your honor, Lord Janos. I'm denying it's existence" remains one of my favourite lines in the entire show. It may not be the best line per se but it's just such a witty insult.

Mance rayder “the freedom to make my own mistakes , was all i ever wanted “ is delivered so well , such a great line
  • @eliaasalvees
love when bronn wins the trial by combat and lysa screams "you don't fight with honor" and bronn responds "no... he did..."
  • @Intellechawwal
You missed one of the best lines, "Rhaegar fought valiantly, Rhaegar fought nobly, Rhaegar fought honorably. And Rhaegar died.”
  • @ryaneschmann2281
Neds line in the prison is always great “you grew up with actors, you learned their craft and you learnt it well. I grew up with soldier, I learned how to die a long time ago”
  • @ilud6502
I also love that one from Stannis at the Blackwater: - But sir, hundreds will die. - No... Thousands. Really shows his determination as a general.

No. 1 for me would be Littlefinger's quote, "Fight every battle, always, in your mind. Everyone is your enemy, everyone is your friend. Every possible series of events is happening all at once. Live that way and nothing will surprised. Everything that happens will be something you have already seen before."
  • @Daxons
Season 2: "threaten me again and I'll have you thrown into the sea" Season 8: "threaten me again and I'll give you Highgarden" 😂

Arya looked Tywin in the eye and said "anyone can be killed." What an icon
  • One of my favorites is from a deleted scene of Tywin with Grand Maester Pycelle. Tywin gets annoyed with Pycelles stuttering and blubbering and calls him out saying he knows it’s an act and to stop. Pycelle then drops the act and stands up straight and speaks clearly and firmly. Tywin asks why he does the act and I like his line “So many flowers my Lord, each wanting to grow the tallest, bloom the brightest. And one by one sooner or later they all get plucked. I don’t want to be the tallest or the brightest, I only want to remain in the garden until my time comes to return to the dirt” It’s actually pretty spot on with how quite a few characters tried to show their worth or seize power, only to die a young death. While people like Pycelle lived a long life. In Japan there is a similar phrase “the nail that sticks out gets hammered”
