AVOID These Junk Cars With The Most Unreliable Engines EVER!

Published 2024-05-18
Don't bother touching any of these unreliable cars! They have some of the worst engines in them and I just can't recommend you buy these. In fact, these are cars to avoid!

So much so, that we're going to start off with a vehicle that burnt to a crisp! We'll see Hyundai, BMW, Ford, and a few other makers that have just missed the mark in my opinion!

I try to explain to people the difference in car companies and why they are unreliable. A bad design is completely different from bad quality control.
  • I am so old that I can remember when the Germans made reliable cars!!!

Most engines today (GDI & GDI/Turbo engines) are garbage for extended reliability, compared to most of the naturally-aspirated port-injected engines that preceded them. People who fell for the 10K oil change scam also made it even worse. Automakers today only build to meet fuel-economy regulation requirements & to last the engine/power-train warranty period & could care less beyond that. They want you in a new vehicle every 4-5 years (or sooner).

Kia and Hyundai...As a mechanic for over 30 years, these cars have engine failure with less than 70K miles....JUNK

I had a car with that turbo engine, which burned down. I got rid of it in time, when I noticed that I see them less and less in my town. People were either trading them/selling them away or they were breaking down early. I also saw one burning beside a road a couple of years ago.

Manufactures trying to crank out more power from a small engine leads to issues. I prefer bigger engines with less stress on them, yes they use more fuel but last way way longer. My wife’s car has a twin cam 1.6 four banger that’s 35 years old with just over 100 hp and N/A, original clutch also. It’s also fuel efficient.

I'm listening to this video and there's literally a Hyundai in front of me with smoke coming out the pipe. Total junk

What blows my mind is some people still ignore terrible track records of failure and continue purchasing them lol

I have a 2012 Mazda 3 2.0 skyactiv engine I'm good. Currently 172k miles zero issues. Mazda is doing it right!

I avoid any vehicle where it's engine has "Eco" in it's name
  • Sounds like there is a LOT of crap out there. The common theme in these problematic engines is turbocharging. Turbocharging BAD…… Naturally aspirated….GOOD !! That’s all you need to know

That first clip is frightening. I know those engines catch on fire, but to see a car that has just turned into charcoal packs a strong emotional appeal. Were you there when this happened? You said the fire department just left. I'm glad you told us no one got hurt. I don't understand how anyone even thinks of buying such a car, let alone does it.

Your not gonna believe this, but i literally just got rid of my wifes Santa Fe Sport two days ago because we were having engine problems. The dealership wants $510 to submit a claim to corporate that won't promise to even fix the issue. This has been an ongoing problem with Hyundais since 2010!

Many Thanks to you for providing all of the great information you share on your channel.....your knowledge and insight about automobiles has helped my friends and family immensely in regards to purchasing new and used cars👍
  • @genzigzag
You would think Chevrolet would learn from Ford with the internal wet timing belt... the new 1.2T 3 cylinder in the Trax and Buick Envista although attractive has thus fatal flaw.
  • All modern cars just won’t last like a 10yr old car. The downfall is cylinder deactivation , turbos along with 8, 9 & 10spd transmissions.
  • @Euro316
If you want a BMW 7 series 2009 - 2014, get the turbo inline 6 N55. NEVER THE N63 V8! We see the N55 in the 200,000+ mile range frequently. I have every dealer tool you can imagine such as BMW ISTA, diag tools, etc. and would not touch an early N63 car.

I remember them old Cadillac Northstar engines were the worst. The worst ever in my opinion.
