So, you have to play them. You won't get far at guitar without them. But they suck. This vid is about approaching barre chords in a way that'll get you somewhere fun quicker, and improve your playing.

In a bandcontext I leave out the root either on the E-string or the e-string - sometimes both considering the E-shape being played. I love to play in a relaxed way. Too many people do not really think about what essential notes are within a chord and just learn the basic shapes... unfortunately many people die with this basic information instead of digging deeper.
