Nice to have you back man. Just like you, I often look up musicians' biographies and background info, before I start learning or interpreting their pieces. As you said, it's like getting to know them as a person, not only as a composer. I write lots of covers of rock/pop/funk songs, so knowing how the author of the original was thinking at the time helps immensely, with older pieces even more so. Keep up the great work! 🎹😋

You're creating again! Great to see. Also I've been back and forth through Aachen numerous times and I was today years old when I learned it's also Aix-la-Chapelle (though I confess to looking out the train window a few times thinking "Aix-la-Chapelle should be around here somewhere")

Really cool to hear something like that. I mean, the fact, that some background information made you more motivated.

So glad you're back! I long ago gave up ruining keyboards and switched to something better matching my musical mettier: The ukulele. Your explanations of musical concepts have been hugely helpful, especially within my contracted context.

I really resonated with this video. Finding out about the lives of classical composers has brought me back to play classical music again.

I can play the piece on piano which mendelshon wrote for the funeral for burgmuller op.103 which is dedicated to burgmuller
  • @sbonel3224
But where is the part where you play his music?
  • Interesting!✨ I thinks it’s always nice to know the history of the artist. I just finished a small piece by Burgmuller, and I’m starting in another one soon🤍
