  • An update on Zeus. He is now 6 1/2 yrs old. He has on going training & is exposed daily to any and all type of expected & unexpected events so he knows how to react to each one. He continues to visit the neighbour across the road, who now has 2 children. A 1 yr old boy who loves Zeus, has been added to their family. Both children have been introduced to Zeus under my & the parents supervision. They are never alone with him. Zeus has been trained in a manner which I call ‘child proofing’. From the day we got him we got him used to being handled as a child may handle him. He is regularly poked, tail pulled, tapping on the head, playing with ears etc. This type of training has always been carried out as a game which he enjoys. We also taught him that it’s normal to move or take food from him, such as moving his bowl while eating & taking bones from his mouth & placing it in a more appropriate place. There would be very few dogs who have had the chance to meet & interact with so many other breeds of dogs due to our neighbour who fosters them. On our daily walks many children interact with Zeus at the local sports clubs. Regardless of what people say about English Staffies breeding history from 200 yrs ago, much has changed in their breeding. Do your research, purchase from a reputable breeder, meet the dogs parents, & above all, train & have your dog interact with all types of events it may encounter in its lifetime. No unexpected or unsupervised surprises for your dog will lead to a happy life for all.
  • This little guy is a 4yr old English staffie. A better companion for any family would be hard to find. We’ve had him from 8wks old, and would never part with him. He loves to be in and around humans or dogs, especially children. He knows all the neighbors and any chance to sneak off for a visit to play with their dogs is to be expected.
  • Zeus is his name, but a Greek god he is not! No, but he is one of the gentlest creatures you will ever come across. In the UK they have two names for this breed. The nanny & the gentleman. This little guy lives up to both of those. He regularly visits the dog shy child across the road. Under parent and my supervision he is well aware of her fears, so he act accordingly around her. Slowly but surely he is building a relationship with her, giving her courage to trust him. His reward are the pats and cuddles he receives each time.
