The effect you are describing at the halfway mark in the video is called 'Magnetic Hysteresis', which is when an iron object exposed to a magnetic field retains some internal magnetic domain alignment which effectively gives the object persisting magnetism. However, I don't believe it applies to metal detecting for two reasons: 1. The transmit field is far too weak to create any magnetic hysteresis. 2. The transmit field is time alternating, meaning the transmit field changes from positive to negative over time, which means the direction of the transmit field changes over time, and so does the direction of internal magnetic domain alignment. This alternating effect would cancel out any accumulating magnetic domain alignment in the iron object. I do think the phenomenon you are describing does exist, but I believe that is related to time dependent filters in the software, e.g. the 'Silencer' on the XP Deus 2, which has some time window in which a sliding value is adjusted based on the amount of ferrous signal detected. The XP Deus 2 has that 'detuning' behavior you described, but it stops behaving like that with the silencer off.

Hey Liam, that Nokta pinpointer I think is great. I’ve used the Deus pinpointer, the Nokta pulse dive, but the other day, used my old Nokta. It’s a simple, but very sensitive and easy to use, basically on and off
  • Great video Liam. Would love to see more videos of different detectors on previously detected property and get your take on which ones do the best.

Nice to hunt with a simple unit sometimes... No messing
  • @Lookin4Things
Yes. Always want you to do more of these, great test. Been keeping up on the random uk. Have you got the V10 yet?
  • @513DIGS
Very nice hunt Liam, thanks for sharing.
  • @jomon723
Thanks, like how you go back and forth with these top line machines 🤖

    Great vídeo! Thanks for this!

I don’t care for the Simplex audio at all. Thanks for the video though
