Great review Lock Noob! I havent used any sparrows tools yet, but it looks like a pretty good beginner set! Thanks for the review!

I like your thoughts in regards to options, especially the handles. I'm just getting into the hobby and find metal handles get slippery quickly with excitement/anticipation. I think I'd like this set.

Spirit set was my first purchased set! I did buy it with the heavy flat bars, which makes it nicer-and I have done heat shrink plus for the handles. I know you said the short hook and euro hook seem basically the same-but I've found that sometimes that narrower tip on the euro can really make a difference! Definitely a great deal for the price-only beat by Jimmy Longs, who is rarely in stock sadly.

excellent review and suggestions. it's always worth it to offer a great starter set that can offer a useful longevity for a reasonable price.

I think you pretty much covered it really well. I can't disagree with anything you said. They aren't Multipick and don't progress to be but I find Sparrows a good cheaper alternative. This is a great little kit to chuck in your bag (as you said) and would be auric for an awful lot of locks. πŸ™‚πŸ‘

I started with tuxedo set which is very similar. I think it was a good starter set. I ended up making some picks on my own later and made my own pry bars as well. It's good to get your foot in the door.

I like the selection of tools. While you are right that the short hook and the euro hook are very similar, keep in mind that a beginner probably breaks or bends one of them quickly, so having the other aa a backup comes handy.

Very nice beginners set, you can pick the majority of pin tumber locks with these

It's a decent set for beginners that will get you into a lot of different locks. A great review and demo as always Ash. Thanks for sharing and have a fantatastic week mate.

This is my first lock pick set and I really like it although I find the two deep hooks not very usable as it is quite hard to get them through keyways especially when there are some very low pins. I like the slim shank of the short hook and the euro hook as I can get them through tight keyways easier than other short hooks with fatter shanks. Your money paw pick is very good indeed except its fatter shank. It is not that easy to put it through some tighter keyways. You may consider improving youe money paw picks by using the same thickness and shape of the shank of the Sparrows short hook or euro hook.

I went with the Sparrow Kick Start set after getting back into lock picking. I remember having the southord set with the little booklet really long time ago.
  • @jumper233
The city rake can be used by itself as a key for master no3.At least the ones I have.
  • Is there a difference between the Spirit and the Tuxedo other than getting an additional pick with the Tuxedo?
