Thanks so much to GTV for helping out with this video! Be sure to check out his video from 2018 where he showed footage of Super Mario Traffic Safety: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfObkj-sU7Y

Mario and Luigi: DONT PLAY WITH FIRE!!! also Mario and Luigi: Hey Luigi! How far you think I can chuck this unstable fireball at that turtle??
-
The cool thing is, Studio Junio also happened to work on Sonic CD’s cutscenes. Kind of funny to think they animated his rival years after this.
-
Don’t worry guys, I’ll become the principal of a Japanese school, rent the video for school, and just copy it. Just give me until like 2038
-
You’ve captured my likeness perfectly!
-
So nobody's gonna talk about how in these videos Mario has a glare in his pupils but Luigi doesn't? He almost looks soulless because of that lol.
-
So when people freaked out about normal looking humans in Odyssey..... it was already done before.
-
I get that copyright laws are more restrictive in Japan than here, but what commercial harm could possibly come from sharing an educational video that they didn't make for profit? Why are they so intent on protecting this one film? There has to be more to the story. They must not have had the rights to animate something that appears in the background of the film, like the logo for a corporation, and they are afraid of lawsuits for the misappropriate use of a registered trademark.
-
Mario and Luigi being heroes close to real life like being informatives on safety and even being volunteer firemen is super wholesome and makes my heart go boopity boop
-
Wow this story was really interesting; normally with media like this you can either find it online in it's lost I've never heard of something like this.
-
I don't know what scares me more, they're freakishly large heads in proportion to the normal humans or Luigi's soulless eyes....
-
Toei really said: There are no Mario safety cartoons in Ba Sing Se Reminds me of the story of Izzy's Quest for Olympic Gold, another piece of formerly lost media. For those who don't know, Izzy was the mascot of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta who made his debut at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. What exactly is Izzy, you might ask...we don't know. He's not an animal, he's not a human figure, nor is he an object. He's...something. His name is actually short for Whatizit. His debut was met with backlash, because you'd think for the CENTENNIAL Olympics, they'd pick a grand mascot...nope. So to counter this backlash, they released a video game (Izzy's Quest for the Olympic Rings on Sega Genesis and SNES) and a cartoon. For the longest time, people joked that Izzy was so laughably bad that his cartoon about his backstory became lost media. That is, until 2020 when the pandemic changed all that. A guy called James was helping his father clean out his garage where he came across a VHS of it.

Mario and Luigi never cease to perplex me. Are they plumbers? Are they firefighters? Are they just super beings that can do anything possible?
-
1:57 Fun Fact: Studio Junio have also made the cutscenes for the original Sonic CD as well have worked on a lot of interactive games
-
There's something so interesting about finding lost or difficult to view media, no matter how small it may be
-
There's seriously an official piece of media out there where Mario almost isekais a child
-
Mario: Saves Bowser from getting hit by a car Also Mario: Throws Bowser into bombs, makes him fall into a pit of lava or just a pit etc.
-
Old films like this should be preserved on newer based media. Since even if the media is kept in good hands. Who can say that footage will one day just fade away and be destroyed from the use of it
-
Ironic how they aren't letting people share an educational short, even when the point of it is to spread awareness of traffic safety.
-
1:49 this isn't the only time Toei has worked with Junio. They've also worked together on the iconic opening/ending cutscenes for Sonic CD.
