Why we NEED a good Battlefield game

Published 2024-06-17
Many popular First Person Shooter videogames are going down the movement shooter and hyper monetization trends. In military style games, this ruins any sense of immersion for the player and whilst Call Of Duty Ground War is fun, it ;acks some of the ideas and polish of the Battlefield franchise. In this video, I will be discussing the design ideas that made older Battlefield games so exciting and immersive to provide constructive criticism on why the newest battlefield games have not managed to hold my attention.

Idk how BF3 and BF4 are going to be matched with the current gaming landscape

God i remember the day i played my first online game EVER in my life, and it was Battlefield 4. I spend all my childhood playing on an unlocked Xbox 360, so i was never able to play online games. But in 2015-2016, my dad bought for me and my brother an xbox one and we buyed Battlefield 4 and then after that we buyed xbox live gold. Man, i remember it was my happiest day of my life. It was so magical, me and my brother stayed so impress with the game that we had to put on the watch like "each will play 2 hours and then change with one". BF4 was amazing, all those graphics, all the massive multiplayer, i remember that play with other people was so good that i got addicted with the game. Gunplay, levolution, map destructions, all cinematic. A real good Battlefield can turn boys to men 😅

Bad Company 2 has never been topped in my opinion.

Why battlefield (4) was great ? Very simple: Great map design Good shooting system No cancel slide dogshit Insane variety of weapons to chose (90% of them valid) No meta And of course the classic battlefield game modes Forgot 2 more things: Classes (medic, engeneer, support and scout were great imo) Map evolution of course, keep that thing

And I still play battlefield 4, sometime 3 but I will keep playing it until DICE create a worthy successor to battlefield 4

I'd pay a lot of money to play a modern take on BF2/BF3. Back in the mid-late 2000's we had 3 PC's and 2 internet connections in the house so my brother, my dad and I could all play BF2 at the same time. Have yet to experience another fps that I enjoyed to such an extent, a legendary BF title in my opinion.

There's a reason why I play Squad. Squad is like Battlefield, but in a different dimension where BF didn't go arcadey and instead went heavier on teamwork, coordination, authenticity. The BF franchise is dead. And with the news that EA is now deciding to shut down the online servers of BF3 and BF4, it makes it even more clear that that's the case. At this point, even if they miraculously made a good BF game, there's still the thought in the back of your mind that it will get shut down eventually. If EA is essentially telling us that we no longer own their games, but rather renting them for a finite amount of time, then I'm out completely. I'll stick to indie devs and AA studios that actually have passion for their games and do a way better job at capturing the magic of games I once loved.

The movement in 2042 felt to floaty for me so I never really played it again
  • honestly i feel like battlefield started going down hill once too much gun customization was implemented into the game. it turn the focus of the game from being about team play to being about gunplay and optimizing a personal build. Battlefield’s original appeal was the feeling of working as a team to tactically affect the flow of a battle. it encouraged team play by limiting players players to certain class kits, which forced you to rely on teammates to offset the gaps in your fighting capacity. but once too much kit and gun customization was implemented, it started becoming about individual gunplay, which there are tons of shooters out there that are better at that.
  • Every point was spot on. I loved the 2010 era battlefields and no game has matched the feel and vibe yet. I still love my movement based shooters like apex but to go back to this lost style would be so much appreciated. I hope someone at dice watches this video.

BF2042 was such a wasted opportunity. The mercenary setting could have been great. If they would have taken the money system from Black Ops 1, slowed down the movement system from BFV and made it feel a little heavier and clunkier, kept the fortifications and call in system from BFV and made the weapons and vehicles feel more ragtag and thrown together instead of fresh and shiny, it would have been amazing. You earn money in game for call ins, then you earn a portion of that from winning, contracts, or level ups for cosmetics, weapons, attachments, or vehicles. BFV's movement felt great but slow it down to make it feel like youre a soldier wearing heavy ass armor and carrying around heavy ass weapons.
  • BF3 and BF4 were on a different level than anything else. Even Hardline was really good. I hope they make a good one soon.

For a campaign mode I just want a competent squad in a single player.
  • Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5 are really good games Battlefield 1 is niche but it's a piece of art and I have anxiety thinking that soon those will only be memories

about the server you explained.. '' when you start to find these servers you like you start to recognize certain players, perhaps you'll befriend them perhaps you'll get a rivalry, and those little things create those stories that make players so excited and so nostalgic for your game because they've got those memories that they attach to. and they just script that or make that happen without having these tools to allow the community to drive the experience of the game. '' many of us BF players will def agree with this, those friends we made all the way, the countless moments and fondest memories will be with us forever.

What a great video and its all so true!! Just watched the video without seeing how long it is, soon as the battlefield footage started I couldnt stop watching. We need a good battlefield!
  • The music in the background you run at the end should be the one for the next battlefield game lobby. Such a dramatic feeling to have when you’re about to enter the fight. Great in depth explanation video!
  • @buildomatic
Im just saying bf1 had the beat atmosphere, from music, voices and map designs.

Bad Company 2 was arguably one of the "slowest" BF games, but it was the perfect balance between fast-paced gameplay and teamwork, while BF3 felt like CoD if it was any good, BC2 felt like war, it was immersive, when movement is limited, it's teamwork that wins the battle, the destruction was way better too. On BF3 is where it started the bunny-hopping super soldiers, some buildings could never be destroyed or brought down to the ground completely, BC2 was more dynamic and far more immersive
