Iā€™m gonna be honest, I spent most of this year not listening to much new music at all. Sometimes I just get into a mode where Iā€™m focusing so much on work and goals that I just end up spending a lot of time listening to the same things over and over. Having the familiarity of listening to mostly the same music every day helps me stay in a productive mindset. But at the same time a lot of really interesting music came out this year so in the last couple of weeks I tried to discover as much new and interesting music as I could so I could find some new favorite albums because even though I feel comfortable listening to the same old stuff, I still feel like its always worth it to take the time and find new things to listen to. So these are my favorite albums of 2022. As always this is just what I listened to the most, itā€™s really not meant to be some official best albums of the year ranking. Itā€™s just my opinion.

Will Little Simz sneak onto the list last minute, and if not this will show the problem with making an end of year list before the year is over šŸ˜‚
  • this video and your last video talking about your favorite albums are so good cause you have such unique music taste. its clear you arent trying to impress anyone with it, you just like what you like. anyone else wouldve had the standard "forever story, mr morale, melt your eyes, its almost dry, etc" top 5, which isnt a bad thing in itself, but your list is so much more unique, interesting, and genuinely puts me on to a ton of great music

I love the inclusion of Loyle Carner, been a huge fan of his for the last few years and gives that whole lowkey-UK hip hop sound a platform

Really glad to see the smile grab someone elseā€™s attention, I knew about it from launch but I didnā€™t really start appreciating it until around September when I got myself out of homelessness. Speech Bubbles is hands down the best track.

When youā€™re putting Lil babyā€™s newest record above JID, I think thatā€™s when you need to rethink the list
  • Thanks for putting me onto Ka! Those 2 albums are very good, and I wouldnā€™t have heard of them if it werenā€™t for you

The cover and your recent content made it seem like a hip-hop oriented list but you really surprised me with a lot of various albums I haven't even heard of yet.

LETS GOOOO, W for adding Brakence to the list, his album was insane and I feel like everyone should hear it. Definitely AOTY contender for me.

Really solid list and I love that you made this just the albums YOU listened to this year, NOT the best albums of the year. For me, my list would be: Dawn FM - The Weeknd Caprisongs - FKA Twigs Motomami - Rosalia Soul Sold Separately - Freddie Gibbs Melt My Eyes, See Your Future - Denzel Curry The Forever Story - JID It's Almost Dry - Pusha T Herbert - Ab-Soul Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers - Kendrick Lamar Drill Music in Zion - Lupe Fiasco Few Good Things - Saba Luv 4 Rent - Smino Killing Nothing - Boldy James FACE & MOB - Babyface Ray Crocodrillo Turbo - Action Bronson I Never Liked You - Future God Don't Make Mistakes - Conway the Machine

Good list, I added a few albums to my library. Kur - Loyal To A Fault is one of my favorites of the year.
