The “Hi” kills me every time

"That's What people DO!" Love that, Andrew Scott played Moriarty so damn well
  • I love the incredibly casual "no you won't" after Sherlock's epic and stern "I will stop you"

"But the flirting is over Sherlock, Daddy's had enough now!" He's so iconic.

"People have died." "That's what people DO!!!" What I love LOVE about this, was that this was the scene that Andrew Scott auditioned with. He was expected to read the line flippant and dismissively, like he didn't care at all about the lives of others, but when he was in the audition, he gave the line the same way that he did it here and he freaked out the casting director so much that it made her jump so, they had to keep it in the show. It was a brilliant move on Scott's acting intuition and has become one of, if not his most famous line.

"People have died." "That's what people DO!" Still gives me chills. Much has been made, rightly so, of Benedict Cumberbatch's faithful, yet uniquely original take on Sherlock Holmes. But equal, in my mind, is Andrew Scott's take on Moriarty. Not just your run of the mill criminal mastermind, but a true psychopath with a dramatic flair. Brilliant.

Subtle thing Andrew Scott does is read every line in a way you’re not expecting, so even if it’s a standard villain speech, you’re on edge because you don’t know what he’s gonna say or do.

S: "I did" M: "You've come the closest now you're in my way" S: "Thank you" M: "Didn't mean it as a compliment" S: "Yes you did." M: "YEAH OKAY I DID"

Is no one gonna talk about the “Stop the flirting Sherlock, daddy’s had enough now” Me: Like Jim wtf 😂😂
  • “BUT THE FLIRTING’S OVER SHERLOCK, Daddy’s had enough nowwwwwww.”
  • @tweepy123
"Now you're in my way!" "Thank you." "I didn't mean it as a compliment." "Yes you did" "Yeah ok I did" 🤷 Haha XD

Its funny how his voice is smth that I'd normally find too silly to take seriously but his actor uses his mannerisms and yells to show just how really dangerous he is. It's such amazing acting. He bounces with Sherlock to show how much FUN hes having, its a brilliant way to show just how dangerous he is.

I came for 0:28 "Jim Moriarty. Hi!!!" and 2:25 "That's what people DOOO!!!!"
  • @fuckel98
That "isn't it?" @ 1:34 is golden. His face and inflection is absolute perfection. Some seemingly small act, so completely embodies a person being high on their own press and absolutely feeling their self 😂 Moriarty was so damn pleased with himself it was palpable

Andrew Scott won a BAFTA for this role. He absolutely deserved it
