So I'm trying to understand how the Yugo was a worst seller? The first day the Yugo was introduced almost 2000 sold. Not to mention over 100000 in just 2 years and 142000 when Yugo America shut for good in April 1992.
  • @sciprio1
Is this about the worst selling cars? or about the worst cars? I thing you mixed up the two.
  • @Mladjasmilic
I had a Yugo for 8 months and it was my first car. 903cc, 4 speed, aloy wheels and sun roof. It did broke down (brake hose erupted on pothole and right low beam fuse was loose) but it was very fun, cheap to repair and easy to drive. I still have Yugonostalgia.

I have a 1986 Yugo GV. The car is registered under my name since 1999 and I never had any problems with it. All the parts are original (except your usual tune up parts) and I get plenty of attention with it from people wanting to take pictures of the car, while talking about classic and rare automobiles throughout history! Contrary to popular belief, the Yugo never went out of business! In the United States, the car lasted from 1985-1993 and the last consumer purchasing year was 1991. Yugo America left the U.S. not because of bad sales, but due to the embargo that was placed on Yugoslavia during their civil war in the mid-late 1990's. In 1999, NATO bomb half of the factory, but were able to rebuilt the building and continue on manufacturing the cars! Did you know in the UK, the Yugo was voted one of the best cars ever made and the Zastava factory (which made the Yugo) won many awards! Yugo-mania seized the United States and lines actually formed at dealerships to purchase the car. At one point, Chrysler even offered to buy the company. The Yugo actually became the “fastest-selling first-year European import in US history.” In Serbia, Zastava continued to make the Yugo all the way up to 2008 and now the manufacturer makes Fiat's (which they made at one time). Many in Serbia and former Yugoslavian states have been customizing them for street racing and rally events for competition. The Fiat 500L that are being imported to the United States is currently manufactured in the same car plant that made the Yugo in Serbia. So don't listen to reporters that has no idea about it, but can only gave a few sentences about the car without giving you a rational look at it. As a Yugo owner, its a great little automobile that has a cult following on the Yahoo Groups and have access to parts, memorabilia, and give the proper wisdom on these little cars of history!

Even though the Pinto was a turd, it definitely doesn't belong on this list---Ford sold a crapload of them.
  • @3Runner95
Yugo sold great, 141,651 cars were sold in the United States from 1985 to 1992 and total number is close to 800000. It was a bad car but for the price what do you expect? It was good for the working class. It wasn't designed to compete with Ferraris. Compare it to the Russian Lada, that was just as ugly and shitty and half of Russia still drives it. Also keep in mind that repairs were super cheap!

You keep saying "worst selling cars". I don't think that means what you think it means. Over 3 MILLION Ford Pinto's were sold. How is that a worst selling car?
  • @Carlton-B
Worst selling? The Ford Pinto was one of the most popular cars of the 70s. It was nimble, speedy, reliable and economical. My family had a roundabout and station wagon, I got to drive them both, and they were just the best little cars. As long as you weren't hit from behind, you were fine.
  • @mukhiljohnson6
Cool channel I subbed : ) Nice tone you give towards your videos man
  • You have probably already heard this several times. However, if you have not: It is not a Ford Edsel. Edsel was a division of Ford with its own car models. Example: Edsel Corsair & Edsel Pacer. Just a little FYI for you:)
  • @LegionOfWeirdos
THIS VIDEO BLOWS MY MIND AT ITS COMPLETE INACCURACY. You've got me grumbling enough to do the three minutes of Google-fu YOU should have done before making this video.* - Let's start where you finished... you mention the Pinto as being the #1 least selling car, and then go right on to talk about a recall of 1.5 MILLION of them. In fact, Ford sold over 3.1 million Pintos... it was one of the BEST selling cars they ever made. Oh, and that "no power" motor is quite a darling in the tuner world. - Going backward, you mention the Tucker 48, "also known as the Tucker Torpedo" - which is NOT, they're different concept cars - I guess could be your least selling car as NONE were actually sold on the retail market. But then you could say that about a hell of a lot of concept cars. - There were over 280,000 AMC Pacers sold - Chevy sold 24,112 total of the SSR - "The Edsel?" WHICH Edsel? Edsel was a marque not a car... are we talking the Citation, Ranger, Pacer, Bermuda, Villager, or Corsair because in total there were 92,233 sold... OK, let's go with the Citation at 9,299 - 141,651 Yugos sold in the USA alone, and we were a weak market - DeLoreans sold = 8,583 (some sources claim 9,200) - Plymouth Prowlers sold = 11,702 - Cadillac Cimarron = 132, 499 - Pontiac Aztek = 119,682 Now for some cars that sold worse than every car on your list except the Tucker, which really shouldn't be on the list anyway... (and I'm leaving off supercars and concepts) Pontiac G3 - 6,233 Lexus IS300 SportCross - 3,078 Acura ZDX - 5,677 Studebaker Wagonaire - 618 GMC Typhoon - 4,697 Cadillac ELR - 2,697 Toyota Mirai - 2,840 Kia K900 - 4,688 Isuzu VehiCross - 4,153 Hyundai Equus - 7,128 HOLY COW! THAT'S TEN ALREADY and I didn't even have to fluff up my list with a concept car that never made it to production. *Like the Pinto and the pretty girls... let's dress up a crappy list video with no research behind it with a snarky narrator spewing expletives like a twelve year old boy.
  • I disagree with the tucker being a peice of junk. It was a car ahead of its time and they are cool to see in person. I mean they had a helicopter motor! The middle headlight was actually kind of genius, they linked it to the steering so that if you turned the light would turn with you, It also featured seatbelts WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY before it was a standard.
  • @aaronries9307
The pacer was one of the top 10 selling cars in 1975 and was considered cool... for a year... then the poor mileage, odd styling, and people's eyes took the tole.
  • Way off base on the Tucker. Pacers were ugly but unique. Nothing wrong with a Gremlin. Both mechanically good cars in their day.
  • @konyina
Yugo, actually, sold really well. About 700 000 were made
  • @DjStiv3
lol people hatin on the yugo, nigga they still run them overseas, people still drive em and theyre still going. A testment to what a cheap car should be. At any rate, you want cheap thats what you get, for $4k what do you expect? the equivalent today is what maybe $8k.... uhh where in the holy name of crap can you buy a brand new car with 0miles on it for 8 grand? i think those smart cars are like 12k minimum. Gotta respect that price point for a car, just wish engines output a bit more power i mean what was the biggest a 1.3liter 70hp or something? ouch. But again it is perfect overseas in small desolate towns.
  • @yixnorb5971
I am not a prude, but a good video (such as this one) can stand well on it's own without the expletive language. Such words detract from the quality of the video and are a representation of how society is being less moral these days. And yes, I gave you a thumbs up for overall quality.
  • I had both a Yugo and a Pinto during my younger days. I put 80K+ miles on my Yugo, which I hauled kids to scouting , little league, and long drives on both business and personal tips. My only gripe with it was that the gas tank gauge would stick in the full position. I solved his minor annoyance with mini post it notes of the mileage when I last bought gas. For parts, I found that is was basically a Fiat 124, and had a parts store in my city that carried them. My Pinto gave me five years of great driving. I never had any significant mechanical issues. My only annoyance was that the front windshield would crack for the firs three I owned the car--I lived in Cleveland at that time--and we had three polar bear winters. The problem proved to be a screw in the windshields track--probably put in there by a disgruntled auto worker. I had to trade it on another car after i got married and the Pinto proved to be to small for the family.
  • Hilarious!! I just found this by accident, and I wasn't disappointed 😄. Was the AMC Pacer the same as the Mitsubishi Colt? Looks very similar.
