Before starting service, always park the unit on a flat, level surface, engage the parking brake, stop the engine, remove the key from the ignition and wait for all moving parts to stop and for hot parts to cool. Additionally, reread the safety information in the front of the operator's manual for your unit and to follow the procedural instructions in your operator's manual.

Someone may know the exact pitch of the threaded adjustment bolts but I have found that one full turn changes blade height about 1/8". Mine was way off left-to-right from the dealer so I adjusted that prior to doing pitch adjustments. Also, because of the difficulty of taking these measurements on the floor (how most people would be doing it), I found that setting the cutting height up to about 4" so you have room to work under there is a good first step. And then I cut a piece of dowel rod "gauge" to fit between the floor and forward right cutting edge (the "measurement"). Everything else just needs adjusted relative to that "gauge" then, rather than trying to see all the actual measurements underneath there with a tape measure. Adjust the left front to fit this "gauge" and adjust the rears to be 1/4" or so higher than the dowel rod gauge.
  • I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. youtube.com/post/Ugkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3… also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

Everyone check your deck height & pitch. I bought a HD 60 a year ago. Then, last week I also bought a HD 48. We were out mowing an open field & noticed we were cutting at different heights. I got out the measuring tape & find out my 60 HD was a whole half an inch short. & I've been mowing like this since last year. Also, my new 48 HD was perfect in the front, but the back of the deck was pitched about a quarter of an inch lower than the front. Maybe, explains all the stragglers it's been leaving. I'll be adjusting everything tomorrow.

I spent an hour tweaking my deck to have about 1/4" lower front to rear difference and checked side to side height to be the same, my dealer had it adjusted close but then my ocd kicked in so I adjusted it.
  • My new 2023 ZT HD 60 is cutting like crap!! Leaving a lot of uncut grass and stragglers in the middle of a single pass, causing me to have to double cut. This is unacceptable. It’s at the dealer now. I do love my Gravely though.

Why do these not come adjusted from the factory. I find it kind of ridiculous that I have to check/adjust my brand new pro turn 148 after spending this kind of money.

I followed the instructions for my gravely pro stance 32 and did this and now the deck will not hold itself at the top in the transport position. Any ideas why this is? I’m taking it to the dealer later for help but if anyone has an idea to fix this or a reference on how I’d sure appreciate it. Thanks

Great video. Thanks for the lesson. One question, who manufactures your lift tables? Thanks for your time.
  • I bought my 42 inch gravely riding lawn mower may of 2019 and i don't know if i should take it to them when annual service comes up or just ask them to do it now, please tell me which would you choose considering my situation that i can not do it correctly. Tks

Could you use wooden blocks all cut to the same size and level it using the actual deck instead of the blades? That’s how i do it on my John Deere D130, was wondering if this method would work on my gravely pro turn zx also.

Does dropping the front tip of the blades 1/2 effect the Operator Gauge for setting the cutting depth?

My new 60” ZT HD is having problems with the deck clogging up even with cleaning every time and is leaving some streaks. Could deck pitch be the issue?
  • My Mach One blows grass and dirt out the front of the deck and all over the operator. Maybe this adjustment is what is needed? My dealer thinks it is a mystery.

I tried adjusting for hours and the best I could do in maintaining the side to side at 3-1/2” is 3-3/8” front and 3-5/8” rear. Is this an acceptable setup? Gives it about a 1/4” pitch. If not do you have any pointers?

Just a few simple tools, and a hydraulic lift... 😆
  • Man , go back to chains and a floating deck. This is aggravating.
