Common Boost Leak - MY08-MY13 Subaru WRX

This was extremely use full have had said screeching squealing sound for a while and haven’t been able to figure it out even with taking it to mechanics one actually said it was the blow off valve hmmm lol then did this and found that the crappy rubber thing on the throttle body end was in poor condition. So swapped them around as there is two on it and the other one was perfect tighten it all up problem fixed odd noise has gone and power is back

Good stuff, I love your content. Might have talked about tmic endcap leaks also where the tmic mounts to the turbo. Seems a common issue to look for as well.

I think my ‘05 Outback XT has this exact same issue. When I floor the gas pedal, I hear this growling, almost like rubber wheel being stopped by a piece of metal (boost leak noise) and then I can even smell burnt rubber also, probably from the heated air burning the rubber. I have to check mine, will let you know what I find.. Thanks for this video.

Just purchased an 08 with a 2010 motor and turbo to restore. Will the coupler work without the little end bits on it?

I was changing out my pcv hoses yesterday and that rubber thing was completely broken up and could not get it on right so I ordered a mishimoto silicone hose.

Hello I have a Subaru wrx 2006 2.5 t there seems to be oil coming out of Top mount intercooler air intake manifold PCV valve is covered in engine oil and the leak was coming from the top mount dripping through into the turbo charger we took the turbo charger to a performance shop and they told us nothing wrong with the turbo charger it self some people say that it is the Pistons we are baffled with this have you ever come across this issue many thanks Steven we looked at some breeder houses And oil contamination what would cause this?No smoke or any signs coming out of the exhaust just had brand-new MOT and emissions pass if you could show how this is possible and a video that would help me out a great deal to understand thank you ever so much Steve

Same thing on my 2005 OBXT. I thought it was strange that I was only making 12 psi on stage 2, then discovered the ruined pipe.

Dude I have a major boost leak and this is exactly what I have, except I have the 02 WRX, the throttle body to TMIC hose looks all chewed up just like that one, nearly coming off

Had this very hose pop off under intense boost and it was so loud it scared the shit out of me. Im embarrassed to admit it took me weeks to figure out why my car wouldnt start: hose came right off.

Would a boost leak here cause boost oscillation? My fully stock 09 FXT started having really weird boost "pulsation", 20-5-20-5-20-5-20 psi under WOT. No CEL or anything, checked for vaccum leaks and nothing either

I was flooring it one day and all of a sudden my car was making a loud swooshing sound like if I put a aftermarket bov but it’s all stock it does the sound every time I’m supposed to hit boost could this loud swooshing sound be caused by this?

Can confirm... 2007 Legacy Spec.B with the EJ255 had a boost leak because of this. The turbo inlet tube is also prone to tearing, or even causing a boost leak. Side note: If you plan on swapping these hoses out with silicone hoses or something aftermarket, you need a tune! The air flow characteristics of the aftermarket hoses may cause the engine to run lean if on a stock map. Check with your local tuner regarding the swapping of OEM to Silicon type based inlet hoses and such.

I had this loud screeching sound once I hit 3.5k revs so I changed this hose to a silicon 1 but unfortunately it hasn't taken the noise away ,has anyone any ideas what I should look for next 2010 wrxs
