Thanks for the video. My recall showed up on FordPass today. FML!

Give them a break. Axles are a new technology, you can't expect perfection in just a few thousand years.

Before everyone bashes on Ford here, realize that the axles are manufactured by Dana. Same way with other manufacturers such as Ram or GM. Not all axles are manufactured by the brand they are installed on.

I purchased a 2018 Cummins and no complaints other than a slight door panel rattling when cold. I agree with most of these comments. These trucks are not made for work, they are installing more and more epa equipment but yet add a crap ton of plastic and a bigger touch screen. The engines feel chocked up the average garage mechanic struggles to preform any maintenance. The big three has forgotten who there customer base is. I see kids driving these trucks now all blacked out lifted and all I can think is that’s who they are selling to no longer the working class person.

Thats one thing I wouldn't have thought they could manage to screw up, impressive. Next thing you know spark plugs will be blowing out of the heads.

My 2011 f250, 6.2 gasser has been flawless for 10 years. It got rear ended in April, I refused to let it go because it still looks great and does everything I ask of it. It has a new box now, and looks like new. Hang on to your old stuff if it is still good.

Perfect storm! 1000+ foot pounds of torque and Dana cheaps out on the axle tube. $70,000+ truck and some guy at dealership is going to weld on the axle? Super Duty? Come on Ford, do the right thing!

It is obvious that top spring seat is to small . They made a nut cracker out of the spring connection to the axle . That top spring seat should distribute the weight to the axle as wide as the bottom seat .Instead they put a wedge on top , Ove course with the weight of the load and the pounding of the road is going to cut the axle tube .I would suggest remove and replace the top spring seat with a larger mounting surface to the axle tube .If the axle tube is cracked down the side , between the top and bottom seat replace the axle tube .

I'm a Ford tech at a dealer and I'm not welding any of these. Way too much responsibility and liability. Send it to a professional welding shop. That's pretty piss poor of Ford to put the responsibility on the dealers to repair it. Especially for the half ass labor times they will be paying us to do the repair, no thanks
  • @johnoberle9750
Fix it till it’s broken. Building axles for years then changing the specs to cut cost.
  • @CR500R
Wow. I would have never thought axle tubing could be that delicate. Who thought it would be a good idea to use thinner materials? I hate these people who cry about Ford. It could happen to anyone. It's Dana's fault.

I shopped and tested and researched for a almost 2 years for an SD/HD size truck. I love the Fords...there is just to many problems. 'Death rattle' thing to problems with the tranny and now this. They scare me and I'm talking about there service as I've delt with them before. I ended up with a Ram 2500 Cummins with the CP3. Less problems, way nicer ride, but less payload. That's the trade off.

Thanks for your unbiased information. This kind of information is valuable for owners and those doing research on purchasing a truck.
  • ANOTHER Ford recall?! Damn. This one is even scarier than the last one. The thought that while in heavy traffic, or on the Interstate, and have Ford trucks near me scares the hell out of me.
  • Of course the manufacturer suggests the recall only applies to certain vehicles when many other vehicles use the same part. They are trying to limit the scope of the recall.
  • @jims4912
If Ford doesn’t want to cover their product then it time to stop buying their products.
  • I’m glad that my f250 was built in 1999 as 2000 model and and other than the clear coat getting bad it’s been good truck
  • Dayna supplies these rears to everyone so if you think your home free with the other manufacturer, THINK AGAIN!

Great video and thank you for all of the information! It will be interesting to see what the repair procedure is, and if it will prevent deformation, or just prevent the axle from detaching if it does deform. Nice presentation once again.
