Rodney Dangerfield was one of the final guests on The Jackie Gleason Show, which had ran in various forms from 1952 to 1970. After a quick chat, Jackie gave the stage to Rodney to perform some of his classic stand-up. Originally aired February 7, 1970.

1:47 “I just broke up with my psychiatrist. This afternoon, for the first time I told him I got suicidal tendencies. He told me from now on I have to pay in advance.”
4:30 “When I drink, the next day I have to do two things. I gotta try to locate my car, and I gotta bring back the car I took.”
6:34 “It’s a rough school. I looked in the graduation book. Each kid has two poses, one front and one profile.”

  • I miss both Jackie and Rodney, I remember sitting with my Dad on Sunday nights watching Gleason. My Dad has been gone for 30 years and I still miss him. It never goes away. This humor never gets old.
  • 2023. Still listening to him. One of the funniest comedians ever…..period.
  • My favorite Rodney Dangerfield joke: "One time when I was little, I got lost at the beach. I asked a policeman to help me find my parents. After a while I asked him, "Do you think we'll find them?" He said, "I dunno kid, there's so many places they could hide."

Rodney's timing, delivery, mannerisms, depth and punch are impeccable.. The pros pro.
  • There will never be another Rodney. Dude was truly one of a kind. The definition of legend.
  • The Great One and the King of the One Liners. We will never see their like again. RIP Jackie and Rodney.
  • @PatrickCrossfire.
Wow 1970. I was 5 years old. My Dad and Mom probably watched this broadcast when it was new on our big Zenith color T.V. They loved both Jackie Gleason and Rodney Dangerfield. Me? I was probably outside playing in the dirt with my Tonka Toys. Those we happy times.

A comedian in a suit. Man, I tell ya, this man has my respect.

I had the honor of seeing him perform in front of a full house about a year before he passed. He lost some of his timing, he was slurring some of the lines, told most of his older jokes. When he finished we all gave him a roaring standing ovation for about 5 minutes chanting "Rodney!!" He tried not to cry. We love you Mr. Dangerfield!! Here is the respect you always deserved. Just thinking how hard the angels are laughing when he performs in heaven.
  • As a 60s baby I definitely miss this era of Genius comedic 📺. Rodney is in a class by himself. 👍

Rodney was one in a billion, nobody could rapid fire jokes like him and there was no foul language or racial or political, a damn genius. GOAT

"My parents sent me to a child psychiatrist. The kid didn't help me a bit." RIP Rodney.

The sheer volume of jokes permitted on this guy is absolutely amazing most comedians takes 5 minutes to set up a joke and then pay it off this guy just keeps him coming one after the other

40 years old and his humor is still amazing.

King of the one liners. Best that will ever be until the end of time. Respect to Rodney.

2022, and 52 years later this is still hilarious! RD was 49 and JG was 54 which is how old I am now…. Really puts things into perspective…
  • My father met Jackie Gleason. So nice to see Rodney...his jokes are so clean, so different (no profanity) as too many people in comedy today. He was so funny!!
