Tillotson Carb Rebuild Repair Homelite Super XL. This is my method of doing things. I am not an expert but this is not very hard to do. I believe anyone can do it with just the most basic knowledge.

    Screen was supposed to go in the fuel pump side. Last chance to catch dirt from or past the tanks gas filter. That screen often needs to be cleaned if the saw can not get enough gas to run or run well. I forget where the small screen goes. With most cases you should not have to remove the plugs, but that carb. did apparently have a well plugged up. I think some have a little check valve in there. I'm still learning too. Rebuilt a few of these.

    The air filter on my Super XL AO (same carb) lets a lot of dust into the air box like yours has. Runs great, original kit still.

    Mine has the Zama, it's a later saw, made in mid 90s I think

    Believe it or not pinesal is slightly acidic to aluminum and mostly to aluminum oxide.

    So you don't know idf it's the pump, you don't know what the holes do, but there's lotsa holes. OMG leave it to beaver...
