ITS BEEN WRONG FOR TWO YEARS! FIXING MY 4' KING KUTTER ROTARY CUTTER BRUSH HOG FOR MY KUBOTA B2601

Published 2022-08-13
It turns out that I have been using my brush mower wrong for two years. It came assembled wrong from the store and in this video we fix it.

A special thanks to Brad and Deb at Piney Grove Homestead for helping figure out the problem. Check out their channel! youtube.com/c/PineyGroveHomestead

  • Glad we could help you figure it out...it looks ready to eat some brush! Happy tractoring!! 🚜

U mite look into a safety belt shield or chain shield on front and rear of cutter. They throw stuff a long way! Lost a rear tire and neighbor an eye. Always use hearing and eye protection. I also wore a construction hard hat.
  • It's great that the fine folks at Piney Grove were able to help you out. Very cool. Should work a lot better now :)
  • Nice work! Brad knows his Rotary Cutters. He was telling me you got it fixed. That will make a huge difference in maneuverability.
  • I seen a fellow one time he tried to use a chain for the top link wasn't working so well for him... Glad you got it figured out

That's looks like it will work way better now. 😁👍

Thanks for the video, I just bought a used one and when I got it home and set it up it wouldn't raise either. Got it all fixed now
  • I guess you bought the one that was assembled on a Friday. I'm glad you got it fixed, Justin :)
  • Rural King handed me my 4 ft hog with all the arms still bound up in its shipping position. Manual and placards for setting bolts were totally worthless. Very large bolts had to purchase new sockets. Could not get off manually. Thank God I had an air compressor and drive. Thanks for video.
  • On the King cutter flex link system, my 6 footer has worked flawlessly. Somethings didn't look right when l bought it 2 years ago. LUCKELY ,there was some assembly "how-to stickers" on the unit .l them pursued an "owners" MANUAL print-out & away l went home WITH IT & started the Wrenching. It IS CLEARLY MARKED with instructions on the unit "Assembled for shipping & Transport" ; & linkages NEED to be adjusted & "flip-floped" BEFORE USE! I sure am GLAD I learned how to Read since I've been 5 years old. The "unit" has worked "FLAWLESSLY " for the last 2 years & yes l put a "slip-clutch" on it also. No sense in just "Slapping it on" & " going for it" without a thorough PRE-PLAN Strategy. Remember Crew "The Tractor does the WORK"; You have to do the "Thinking Part".

Ae always replaced those two straight bars that go to the tail of the bush hog with chain. Supports it when it needs to and collapsed when it didn't. No binding.
  • If you’re going to pound on steel with a sledge, safety glasses are a must (but only if you’re interested in using both eyes for the rest of your life). Just saying

You should probably lower that rear wheel a bit as well. When you are running it, you want the deck to be slanted down some towards the back of the tractor. This will put the cutting edge lower and help get a cleaner cut by pushing the cut grass out the back better.

It is a given that if you buy a King Klutter from TSC or Rural King that will not be assembled correctly. Should have had a owners manual with it that has the correct instructions and diagram for its assembly. If the pinch guard is to deformed to beat back into shape a piece of black pipe a bit bigger diameter than the bolt will work, just don't get a finger pinched in it :)

Where do you connect your upper 3 point hitch? Do you use the upper hole, I have a JD i-match but do not think it should lift using the the existing bushing. It also appears you can lift higher if you use the higher hole. Thanks
  • I bought a 5 footer and no instructions period. I looked at the pictures and then decided how it should go. The instructions mostly talked about cutting the driveshaft and how to set it up when mowing. I never have used or owned one before.

Good job is that a tractor supply brush hog and how is its quality thanks.
