Mack Leighty from Midwest Magic Cleaning specializes in cleaning the homes of people with hoarding disorder. In this episode of "Deep Cleaned," he tackles his largest project yet: a six-bedroom house, including a basement that hasn't been entered in three years. Barbara Fodor (Clean With Barbie) and Bonnie Ashdown (A Beautiful Mess) join him as they spend three days decluttering and sanitizing as much of the house as possible.

They cleaned the household with permission from the family and with knowledge of the individual. Though the cleaning makes the house safer and more liveable, experts recommend specialized cognitive behavioral therapy as the most effective treatment for hoarding disorder. If you or someone you know is struggling with hoarding behaviors, visit the International OCD Foundation's website to find help.

Midwest Magic Cleaning, A Beautiful Mess | Extreme Cleaning, and Clean with Barbie are the YouTube channels for these three heroes who don’t wear capes. ❤️

It's funny how Mack's voice sounds so different in this video when I'm used to his close up narrations that include a lot of "suck it" and "I usually spin kick the mess until it evaporates . . ." lol. MMC is the best.

Watching Mack of Midwest Magic Cleaning changed my life from one of overwhelming clutter to one of actually enjoying tidying and organising almost as a hobby. His no-nonsense but non-judgemental sympathetic and supportive approach, along with his great methods of breaking down tasks so that they no longer overwhelm, have given me a huge sense of reward and accomplishment of taking control of my surroundings for the first time in my life. His bizarre hilarious oddball sense of humour, coupled with his enormous insight, make this channel absolutely unique and stand above all other cleaning channels currently on Youtube. However, his support of Clean With Barbie and A Beautiful Mess is also really awesome and those ladies also do great work. All are recommended, but Midwest Magic Cleaning is by far the king. Anyone who wants to spin-kick their clutter into oblivion should follow Mack. Because that's just how he rolls, son.

I am a hoarder. It takes a lot of strength to admit that. Due to ill health, I had be in a hospital for two years. I had to let my flat mate and cleaning lady go through my bedroom and reorganize everything. I had to let other people touch my stuff!😢 But when I got home a couple of weeks ago, I was able to go through my overstuffed chest of drawers, and willingly gave up a third of what was in my drawers!🎉 It can be done!😊
  • I love how Mack is always so very aware of the mental aspect of it, and not just the cleaning aspect of it.

I'm in awe of these heroes; Midwest Magic Cleaning, A Beautiful Mess | Extreme Cleaning, and Clean with Barbie. Not only do they help people reclaim their homes, they do it with incredible respect and patience. They are also genuinely lovely people who share their great humor and tips with their communities.

Can we all appreciate the fact that this team carefully looks through everything in the house rather than just chucking all of it into dumpsters. As someone who puts a lot of sentimental value on things and had people overstep and throw away my things, I really appreciate that they understand that and takes the time to actually think through what is worth keeping on behalf of their clients. Always rooting for you Mack and team! ❤

I think people don't understand that hoarding is actually a sign of other mental health issues or a mental health issue in itself. It's rarely got anything to do with the actual stuff itself and it's deeper than that. It's an addiction like any other and represents something neurologically and emotionally to that person and serves a purpose of comforting and escaping from troubles.

So great to finally see this video! Mack, Barbie and Bonnie deserve so much recognition for all of their selfless hard work!
  • @jemmmmyeah
As someone who lived in a hoarding situation, the relief of stress when you finally get help is unmatchable. Mack is a hero, as are all who help people in these situations. A clean up can be life changing and life saving.

I'm supprised Mac didn't just spin kick the mess right into the dumpster. We call him Ole' Trash Spin Kick Jimmy down in Seattle

I had issues with hoarding, recently kicked the habit a couple years ago. One of the silliest changes I made was only buying what I needed, if I was in the shops and needed one jar of pasta sauce, but they are on offer, I used to buy multiple, now I only buy the one. It’s a stupid change that really helped me. Thank you to the three in the video for treating these people with care and dignity. ❤
  • @tahirihwalsh6217
I don’t know if this was mentioned in the video, but these lovely folks do this cleaning work FOR FREE. ❤ They’re all amazing.
  • @its_so_edna
This is the "cleanest" hoarded house I have seen. So many of the things are actually useful.
  • @debby891
Have been waiting for The Insider on their collaboration. They are three of the most giving, compassionate, hard working heroes out there who deserve far more recognition and sponsors.
  • @savannah7375
All my love to this crew and everyone in this line of work. Coming from a family of hoarders, it's so overwhelming and heartbreaking to live this way. It can also be incredibly difficult to ask for help. Appreciate you all ❤
  • @debmacie1612
Mack at Midwest Magic Cleaning has the biggest heart in the world. He loves helping people, with no judgement and no criticism. He has really helped me change my feelings about my Mom and her issues.
  • @lilcrabbybabby
Mac is a sweetheart. He does it for free because he knows otherwise these people will never get help. Midwest Magic Cleaning is his channel here on Youtube and his videos are the best!
  • @libratude9595
I've been waiting for this. I wish Insider would have mentioned Bonnie and Barbie more, as well as mentioned their channels. I feel like they we kind of an after thought in this piece. If they're happy and love it, I'm happy. Great job to everyone involved, including Emily, who wasn't even mentioned. That's Mack's wife. Best of luck to the family of the segment.

So glad the owners getting therapy for the hoarding. This guy is doing the Lord's work 👍🏽👍🏽
