International aid agencies still operating in Afghanistan are appealing for more funding to help victims of flash flooding.

At least 300 people have been killed and more than sixteen hundred injured in Baghlan province. Thousands have been displaced from farmland that is no longer usable. The World Food Programme says many of those affected are already in 'hunger hotspots' and their conditions may soon become catastrophic.

The population should have fought the Taliban takeover militarily, instead of laying down arms and actually collaborating

The Taliban can help themselves... they wanted to live in the Stone Age, so let them.

Condemns Western influences, but wants Western aid. Sounds like double standards. I feel sorry for the ordinary people affected, but with the Taliban in charge, i seriously doubt that aid would be used appropriately.
  • Let them help themselves No western control should also mean no western money Every country should learn how to control and help itself Talibans should Help
  • No! In the name of their religion they want to live in the 14th century, so let them figure it out in their own

They survived Alexander the Great, the Mongol Hordes, Napoleon, Queen Victoria, the Soviets and we who think we are so much smarter than the rest. I'm sure they will get through this one by themselves.
  • I'm all for America sending aid. But would the Taliban seize it and prevent it getting to those for whom it is intended?
  • @half-breed

  • @setildes

Let's see how a theocracy can Govern . Iran, Israel, Afghanistan - it's a perfect experiment to see if 'GOD" really looks after the people who pray . I mean GOD (Allah) is just waiting to help So go Taliban go ......... You wanted it ... go 4 it
  • Yes very sad, so anyway. Remember when Afghanistan was starting to become successful again ? Wonder what changed ?
  • when you worship Idols and believe you will be protected and safe, this is what you get provoke God to anger and see what happens
  • Any chance of any aid getting to anyone needing it and not into Taliban pockets? Also, stop with the climate change BS, DW, as if floods never existed previously. You are ruining any credibility you still maintain.
