I was there 4 months ago and miss it so much and I am not even from there, Canada has been my home for many years but I can't wait to move to the Philippines this year. The warmth I felt, from the people and the weather was just too inviting!

Globe and Smart have on par coverage with each other. But for speed, I recommend a Smart SIM card! (Since my phone is dual sim, I have both. Best of both worlds πŸ˜‚)

πŸ€³πŸ“± ..... if ph. has dual sim i'd totally get both, since in some areas one won't get frequency/signal and the other might!

It's better to buy a Sim Card in Manila City. Prices are cheaper there.
  • You used to be able to buy a sim card anywhere and pay local rates. Now you can't, you have to register a local sim card with a local ID. Local Sim cards are about 40P and you can but cheap data. As for Globe vs. Smart, it really depends on where you are. It has gotten a bit better over the years but they both will have dead spots in The Philippines. Lots of locals have dual sim phones with a sim from both companies.

Are you discussing buying a physical SIM card or an eSIM card? eSIMs are fine for data only but as I understand it, you need a physical SIM card in order to make local calls and do texting. Many of us will need to make local calls and do SMS texting once we're there. Thanks.
