@LoverboyMedia Guardians of the Galaxy Video: Ā Ā Ā ā€¢Ā WHYĀ IĀ (still)Ā LOVEĀ GUARDIANSĀ OFĀ THEĀ G...Ā Ā

Hey! How ya doinā€™? Itā€™s HiTop, HiTop Films here to talk about James Gunn and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is Not an MCU Movie, because first and foremost it is a James Gunn movie. If it were in the MCU it would probably be the Best MCU Movie. I straight up adored this thing man. Rocket Raccoon has been my favorite MCU character since his first appearance, and the amount of empathy that James Gunn has put into him is astounding. This is yet another MCU Video Essay. I know, I know. Donā€™t blame me, blame the Guardians of The Galaxy for being one of the best superhero movie trilogies ever. Thank you for watching this Guardians of the Galaxy Video Essay, this Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Review, whatever you want to call it. Thank you for your love and support.

Seeing Vol 3 reminded me that we arenā€™t tired of superhero movies we are just tired of mediocre unloved superhero movies
  • @RocketOcean18
Iā€™ll never get over Rocketā€™s scream when Lylla dies. Itā€™s absolutely gut wrenching and raw and heartbreaking. And when the High Revolutionary starts mocking him, it solidified him as arguably the most hated villain in all the MCU

Vol. 2 was partly about Rocket accepting that his new family loves him unconditionally, and Vol. 3 shows just how far they are willing to go for him. The entire plot is driven by the love everyone has for a character who always considered himself unloveable.

When rocket was going to save the raccoons amd saw that he infact, was a raccoon.. Idk why, but that felt beautiful. The entire movie is so heartbreaking.

Floor yelling at Rocket; "Rocket, Teeth, Floor go now!" is so effing haunting. CGI animal or not, it's the sound of an innocent child terrified out of her mind. Mad props to the voice actor.

I can't remember the last time an MCU movie made me cry. Guardians 3 made me cry at least three separate times

"A love letter to the abused" Damn, that part really hit hard. These days, many stories try to make the audience sympathize with the villain and then forget or devalue the hurt they put others through. Their victims either have to get over it or they're "overreacting" for the sake of the villain's arc. Then when the hero messes up there is no room for redemption.

The flashbacks scenes were generally hard to watch. It's kind of like a jumpscare, but good. You're expecting something terrible to happen, so Gunn just makes them so likable, you just dread it more and more.

I like how the entire plot of the movie isn't about saving the universe from a world ending scenario or your usual "Avengers level threat." It's really just the Guardians trying to save the life of one of their own which opens up a deeper can of worms from there on out. The plot can't get anymore character-driven than that and I appreciate it. Usually third and final entries like this would go bigger in terms of scale and stakes, but not this one. It feels more personal and more grounded, and that just feels special. A special way to end a special trilogy.

Baby Rocket trembling in anguish only able to barely mutter the word "hurts" is literally one of the most soul-crushing things I have ever experienced, I actually felt violated.

I think the reason that these characters are so funny to everyone is that they're not TRYING to be funny, like everyone else in the MCU. They just truly do not realize that their characteristics and customs are hilarious to everyone else, because they're all so different. Drax trying to lay on the couch had me in STITCHES. I swear that man is the funniest character in all of cinema

It is very rare that I cry during a film. I cried 3 times in this and the last 5 minutes I was in absolute shambles. 10/10 I cannot wait to see what James Gunn does with DC
  • @creativemaster5876
Crazy how James Gunn made a Son of a Living Planet, a Talking Tree, a Cybernetic Animal, a Bug-like Telepath, a Murderous Alien Woman, A Nearly Entirely Artificial Daughter of a Titan and a Alien Destroyer, feel more human than any human characters in The MCU. Incredible Filmmaker.
  • @mr.random8638
Canā€™t believe James Gunn has now made me cry 3 movies in a row over a cgi raccoon, a tree alien, a green assassin, a mantis woman, a killer dad and a sad man from Missouri
  • @theonechrisames
"Maybe we experience the pain so that we can free others from it..." I actually teared up over this. Thank you.
  • @elturtle4739
If I had to describe the scene where Lila died, I would call it horrifying. Each of the characters were having very realistic reactions to a traumatic experience and it was so overstimulating - but not in a bad way - it just left me so terrified. Witnessing abuse as it was happening
  • @fulsomeapollo95
I will never blame Peter for lashing out at Thanos. He was always an impulsive character and Gamora was everything to him.
  • @Batman42440
My favorite part about this movie is that they didnā€™t spend half of the movie setting up another project. It spent it telling a story, as all of these movies should.

"Guardians is a love letter to the abused" is SUCH a good sentiment, that really just made everything sink in. That after all the suffering and otherwise, the dog days are over.
