This is the part where his morality isn't broken but it is bent you'll notice even in the anime that after this exact scene he becomes colder in most cases when talking with his people he is still kind but when talking to visitors strangers and human's he speaks slower and in a monotone voice in many cases the same voice that is the last thing the soldiers that did this ever heard before this moment he was just playing around having fun making friends after this he becomes a humble but untrusting king of monsters ready to butcher anyone that is deemed a threat very good character development
