Day 28 on the Road - Before heading South the Bend, OR we spent our morning exploring orchards in Hood River where we wanted to pick apples. We found McCurdy's Farm with fresh fruit, flowers and animals, then Packer's Orchards with the best samples of jams, honey, pastries, deserts and more! Definitely worth stopping there off the HWY35.

On the road south we stopped at Little Crater Lake, which was a little hard to find because the campgrounds were already closed and signs were covered...but we managed to find it without service. It was a short walk to the lake but amazing clear and deep, we loved the footage our GoPro 4 Black was able to capture.

We made a quick stop at Smith Rock..it was freezing so we didn't last long. We made plans to come back earlier another the day to hike.

We were able to find a campsite to share with the Javureks (@sprint2explore) at Tumalo State Park the day before all but one loop closed. We have to say, these were the nicest facilities we'd seen this trip...particularly the showers. They had sinks for dishes, great bathrooms, separate fountains to fill your water bottles quickly...all good things. We were stoked to finally make a campfire and hang out while making sausages for dinner.

  • @post_24.
Exactly that should be my life since 30 years, but in germany you will never get forward.
  • Hello! I was curious what the roads are like heading to Little Crater Lake? If they are paved or unpaved? My friend and I want to visit the lake, but my vehicle isn't meant to handle rough terrain. I can go off road, but nothing crazy. Dirt roads are no problem, but the last time we took a drive down a back road in Mt. Hood, there were massive pot holes you could step your leg into that made me fear for my car. We spent a good hour dodging what felt like a minefield. Thanks for any info. Wonderful video!

I see you have an air conditioner in your van. Does it run off a generator/battery bank or is it only for when you plug in?
