Y'all need to do Giddy up go by Red Sovine. There are two parts and the second involves Mini Pearl. It's also a tear jerker. But oh the story it tells.
  • My grandpa was a truck driver and he used to play a lot of Red Sovine. Now as an adult, and him not here anymore, it brings back so many memories.

My dad could not listen to this song without sobbing his heart out. We lost him to Cancer 4 years ago and he never actually told us the story behind why it always affected him so much.

You just opened the door to what I call Trucker songs! I'll tell you truckers are some of the biggest saps around! If you liked this there are a few more you need to check out! Roses for Moma Is another punch you in the feels and Wolf Creek Pass will get you sending Burbon through your nose laughing! Really hope you check out more trucker songs! I was an OTR driver for about a year before the stress got to me and started affecting my health and forced me out. But I have a LOAD of respect for my fellow CDL friends! 10/4 over and out!

In the mid 70"s we were driving by a little gas station on Rt 50, in the middle of WV, and saw Red Sovine's tour bus. Of course we had to stop and see if he would sign autograph's. He climbed off that bus as soon as he heard there were kids wanting to meet him. He was the sweetest man, and spent nearly an hour visiting with us. He made a big impression and a fan for life.
  • Red had several songs like this. I don't care how many times I hear this it still gets to me
  • I had the honor of getting to see Red perform this live on two different occasions. It's a special one indeed.

That’s always a tough one to get through. If you get the chance check out part 2 to this song.
  • In all of Red Sovine songs you can always hear the tears in his voice during his songs.
  • I haven't listened to this in a while because I cry. Every time. It's storytelling at its best. Another one that hits in the feels is "Country Bumpkin" which was first sung by Cal Smith BUT the version I like best is by Loretta Lynn.

This man ruled the tear jerkers😢 should catch pt 2 to this. This is one of the more calm ones ❤
  • I am a 6ft 3in 260lb country man from Alabama, and Teddy Bear gets my eyes to watering everytime I hear it !!!
  • Absolutely love this song! My dad drove truck all his life. When he couldn't drive long distance anymore, he worked for small business around the state or just day drives.

another couple of great Red Sovine songs are Giddy Up Go and Phantom 309.
  • My great uncle was in a wheelchair from age 18. He talked all day every day on the cb. Truck drivers sent him post cards from all over and he put them in plastic hangers on each wall. When there wad no more space, he'd take one row down and start a new one. When he passed, the convoy to his grave was quite a sight. His name was Stovepipe and this song always reminds me of him.
  • GREAT STORY SONG. I remember when this came out. Played a lot on the radio. It was very, very popular. Red Sovine is a great story teller. Has many songs like Teddy Bear.
  • I have always loved Red Sovine. My Uncle used to play his stuff for me when I was a little girl, many moons ago. My favorite was Little Rosa. Play it for your wife when she needs a good cry.
  • OMG, my dad had Red on albums & then 8 track tapes & he played them all the time, when I was just a little girl. He was also a trucker & listened to these old trucker songs a lot. I had not heard this in many, many years. Thanks for the memories.
