Rep. Mike Turner questioned Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle in a House Oversight hearing Monday on the July 13 attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The Ohio Republican asked Cheatle whether she was aware of and read the obtained intelligence of an Iranian plot to assassinate Trump. There’s no known connection of the gunman who attempted to kill the former president at the campaign rally and the intel about Iran.

Turner suggested that the protection plan for Trump wasn’t properly assessed, given the intel about the Iran plot.
