THE LEGEND OF CROPSEY: The Staten Island Boogeyman

Published 2024-04-12
Cropsey was a killer rumored to haunt Staten Island during the 1970's. The legend talks about a man who kidnapped young children after he lost his own son. This man was mentally unstable, so the story went. Out of grief, he had resorted to stealing the children of others as replacements. Cropsey was an Urban Legend that terrified Staten Island in the 70's and 80's, but legend became all too real when children really started taking missing and the monster wasn't just a legend.

I was born in 71 and live in New York and I seem to remember hearing of Cropsey! Well, done! I know you worked hard on this one.
  • I have a lot of relatives in Long Island, and spent my summers there. Great story so creepy.👻💀👻

Hello from Finland! I stumbled upon Cropsey years ago when the documentary "Cropsey" was shown on late night TV.
  • Also realised I had missed this one too! super duper scary this one. If I heard this as a kid I 100% would have had nightmares every night. Just plain terrifying and that house at 2.12 wow! I was thinking it looked beautiful but super creepy and whatever is in the tree at first I thought it was something in the window. LOL Fantastic images used. You captured this amazingly.

When I was growing up, the HVSH was still in operation; in fact, my uncle used to work there. It was very common to hear someone say about another, "He belongs up in Wingdale." Our town was just south of there on Rte. 22. 😅
  • Ohh, what an evil man. I am glad Cropsey is not around anymore. If it was him, it would make sense why the kidnapping stopped. Who knows?..maybe he had an evil attachment or possessed?
