I remember stumbling on the random empty villages in beta. I seem to remember everyone concocting a "post apocalypse" theory up until Villagers were added but it was so long ago I'm not remotely sure.

You also forgot to mention that once you cure a zombie villager, they'll give you massive discounts. One time a cured villager lowered their prices from like 10+ something (can't remember what the item was) to just 3. It was wild.
