Nigeria inflation: Food prices see 40% spike

Published 2024-05-15
Nigeria is due to release its inflation figures for April. They are expected to show a 40% rise in food prices. Africa's most populous nation has suffered violent unrest over food price increases in recent months, including attacks on grain warehouses. Insecurity, a weak local currency and high energy costs are blamed for the price increases.

Al Jazeera's Ahmed Idris reports from Lagos.

The government is worried about unregulated crypto trades... They definitely should worry about more important things like getting the Nigerian economy on par with South Africa.

They need more roads and bridges connecting them to their neighbors
  • What is the relation between unregulated crypto trades and food prices? Misplaced priorities
  • Hopefully this will bring down the extremely high birth rates in these countries.

Unless you actually go to Nigeria you will not realize there are two parts to the country, the rich and the very poor. The rich and corrupt will be fine, the poor will suffer. The world the capitalists made for us all to enjoy or suffer depending what the lottery of life gave you
