Alexander W. Doniphan - A Man For All Seasons

Published 2009-09-07
On several occasions General Doniphan stood between the senseless mobs and the mormon pioneers. His ability to stand fast to his moral code surely brought upon him the vilest of threats and hatred of his countrymen, but his belief in the law and his ability to see and stand against it's abuses made him into a revered and honored man in Missouri. On more than one occasion he was a friend to the mormons when it was unpopular and at times out right dangerous. I feel honored to have stood at this memorial.

Alexander Doniphan is a good man. He knew what was right and stood by it. As a matter of fact, I was talking about him with my brother today.
