From what I've heard, Hiei wasn't originally planned to be a regular cast member but he was so popular that Togashi kept him in. I think in the last arc it gets reconned that the eye form was because he was weaker due to his surgery.

That whistle song originally came from a film called Twisted Nerve, a British psychological thriller that came out in 1968, before it was used in Kill Bill.

I think of this mini demon as dead and the one in rescue Yukina arc as a different one since the voice changed. That occupation is dominated by that type of demon, they look exactly the same to us but they can tell each other apart . Also I love the Rando in this series and everything he Lani did with him

How Togashi handled Hiei is a real work of art. Its been years so this whole comment could be wrong as hell, but I believe he (and Kurama?) wasn't intended to stick around past this introductory arc, but he was such a fan favorite character that he kept him around. The idea that he managed to take edgelord eye guy and turn him into edgelord extremely deep character is incredible

At this point, hiei is D+, Yusuke is probably D- or E+. Rando was C-

If you count the movie, they did use that other form for Hiei. Also I died laughing from Lani's reaction to Rando😂

Seeing the things you’re ashamed of is equally great viewing to things you are proud of, possibly more so with the humor of your reactions. We all understand that you have grown creatively and as a person, so we can all enjoy that cringer together.

I don't remember what was done with Rando for this abridged series, but seeing Lani scream in terror after eight episodes of his earliest work has me terrified and excited!

Yu Yu Hakusho is great it hasn't aged perfectly, but the general story and the lead into Chapter black Arguably the best Arc in the show. Sensui is such a fun antagonist.

The atmosphere shifts hard to dread the instant Lani remembers about Rando.
