I’ve always said that the nightmare album sounded like the 5 stages of grief with Denial and Anger being the most present and then acceptance at the end :(( great fucking album !!
  • A7X will go down in history with all the other greats🖤🤘 Their music is timeless and I can’t wait for future generations to discover them😭

I've always found "desecrate through reverence" incredible mysterious. Hope they do an episode on that one.

I’ve never heard the band talk about this album in this depth. Absolutely wonderful and means so much that they’re able to share this experience for anyone who can see a parallel in their own lives. To me this is the best album ever written and hit the nail on the head of the way I am. Love it.
  • I was a teen listening to this album.. dealing with a family members death, grief ridden and typical teenage behavior.. as I’ve aged and dealt with more things.. going back to listen to the album.. welcome to the family, buried alive and so far away have a huge impact in my current life.. the words speak volumes in buried alive for my current situation.. A7X will always hold a place in my heart. They’ve kept me going thanks to the anger and pain in the music it’s a makeshift vent to scream and sing along with Matt. Thank you guys for the memories. 🖤

I remember 2010 and nightmare came out.. I was constantly listening to the album and kind of skiping some songs and Buried Alive was one of them. I was not into Avenged so much back then, but one day as the record played in the background i was doing something on the PC and track 4 of the album was the one i was skiping and i did something, did not have time to skip it that time and i started listening to it and is kind of soaks me in bit by bit, that beautiful melody, chord progression, the lyrics in the verse and that phenomenal pre chorus.. As the pre chorus started i clicked on my media player and i was watching at the name of the song and then the chorus hit… Big impact, something that to this day i did not experiance. Tears started pouring out of my eyes like rain, i was crying like a baby.. All the negativity on the surface and i was just in disbelief of how good the song is.. Then comes the next verse and the chorus and the SOLO.. I was crying throughout the whole song and could not believe that i skiped the track for so long. I know people like Metallica(for example) or some other older bands but this kind of musicality that is in this song.. You won’t find it presented in this way from any other band. For me, Avenged Sevenfold is the best band of all times and time will tell that too! When you did the “breakdown” series i was sooo angry with you guys because you did not do “buried alive” but this podcast makes up a bit for that haha Buried Alive is my ABSOLUTE best song EVER. Thank you for existing😇

I have a funny story. In a few words, I was a teenager not as tolerant with dissonant music opinions. When Nightmare came out there was me: a very enthusiastic A7x fan, who needed the whole world to hear the new album, and understand it, and there was this friend of mine who was a metallica's fan and a all the other classic stuff fan, and who was not as opened to new bands as I always needed him to be. Every A7X fan may understand this: I could not accept that my friend couldn't rock out with me listening to the Avenged's songs, and when this song came out I was like: there is no way he could listen to this song, being a metallica guy and not to praise it with all his strenght, I found I finally got him, and I asked him to come to my place to play rock band (the game)(but this was an excuse, I would play out of my audio system the song that would make him fall in love with my favorite band... He was sitting next to me as the song started. I looked at him through the introduction and he was not very engaged. "no problem, He will for sure". And the verse came, and he was like: "THIS IS NOWADAYS TRASH, DIDNT U SAY THAT THIS WAS A PUNCH IN THE STOMACH?" "no problem, I just need to stay calm" and I asked him to pay attention to what was coming, I knew that he would fall out of his chair when HEY! I CAN'T LIVE IN HERE FOR ANOTHER DAAAAY came... The story goes and We have already passed the chorus without his switching-over, and not just this but that was that look on his face... I couldnt bare his blasfemy looking... I paused the song and then He goes "this soft music"... So I made my mind up, and at this second I was not an A7X fan who needed the whole world to hear nightmare and understand it. I go "I want you out of my house" He thought I was kidding, but I was serious. And he never entered my place again. hahahahaha No, I'm kidding. A week later we were like friends again wandering through our streets. But I'm proud to say that I liked and respect this song as much that I would lose a friend for it hahahahahahahaah
