Sensei Jesse Enkamp--the "Karate Nerd"-- is a long-time student, popular teacher, a successful entrepreneur, a blogging superstar, and a world-class Karate competitor.

Does all of that make him a martial arts sell-out... or a friggin' genius? Listen to the man himself and let me know what you think! :)

Thanks for the unique interview Sensei Ando! 😄 Hopefully people realize martial arts is not about the income... it’s about the outcome! 🙏 Keep keepin’ it real! 👊
  • @VincentMMALife
First a video of Jesse teaching Icy Mike a kata and now a video of Ando and Jesse again? My day couldn't get better! Love the co-operation between you all!

No sellout. He is the real deal. Great guy. Great instructor. Thanks for sharing!!!
  • Two guys here who are a credit to martial arts! When I started training as a teenager in the late 1960s in the north of England there was no internet and finding a good instructor was not easy! Young martial artists are so lucky to be able to access the net as a supplement to their Dojo training. Of course, there are many fakes out there but after a little bit of training and research, they are easy to weed out. I have been following these two guys for a while now and as far as I am concerned they are both well worth it and I always feel I have learned something after watching them. Do not forget that it is free as well, so a big thank you to you both for taking the time to teach online!

Jesse Enkamp seems like a genuine guy, I hope nothing but the best for him. But he's not a sell out in his perspective he's spreading martial arts and having fun doing so. He is also smart with marketing himself to get the attention needed to financially be safe and get his word out there. Jesse Enkamp looks like he's living the dream.

Fantastic interview! Thank you for doing this. I can honestly say that Jesse has had a very positive impact on me. I love his humility, his skills and his willingness to help us all expand our knowledge.
  • Wow! Fantastic! Just finished watching Jesse teach icy mike a kata and then this came up! Absolutely respect and admire you both!My 2 favorite martial artists, besides my sensei( haha)

In my opinion, you two are the most inspiring outcome of YouTube. Keep going and keep fighting, for yourself and for everybody alse out there who's enjoying your great content.
  • How dare Jesse attempt to make a living at what he loves doing, and is passionate about?! 😊 I'm glad that they made this video, because there's so much ridiculous idealism that martial art should never be about making a living ("it's not about making money.") Martial arts, of course, like any endeavor, should never be about ripping people off, by making false claims of any sort. But Jesse is the real deal, he's legitimate, so why shouldn't he be properly compensated? If he can't make a living and what he's passionate about, he's not going to be able to continue doing it on a full-time basis, because paying utilities never stops. And historically, the military arts, which is what martial arts is about, has always been about compensation (after all, the samurai were paid for their services.) And yes, "value." Subconsciously, we only value those things that we properly compensate. In other words, we tend not to value those things that are just given to us for free. Again, I'm not advocating the rip-off "mcdojo" artists. But legitimate instructors who are giving a legitimate service must be paid, idealism or not about "it's never about money."
  • Love both you guys! Thank you for all yall do. Your videos truly make a positive impact. At least for me.
  • @niazkhawaja
Awesome conversation! It amazes me to see such motivated trainer, coach, mentors who are willing to pass on their skills to their students Wish had the opportunity to learn from such committed personalities
  • @felixarroyo9015
Thank you for all of your inspiration and advice. And I look forward to hearing more from you. Thank you.
  • This is very nice collaboration and during this video we all could hear some very normal and useful thoughts and very interesting informations. I generally know from watching before his videos of Jesse thoughts and philosophy in general, and I find him completely ok as a person. Of course I don't know him personally, but as hi said, considering the part of his personality that he is giving to the public, I found him very normal and cool, so I like him for that. Additionally he is doing something that I am interested at, so that is just great. I also found some of your thoughts very cool, normal and useful in some of your videos , so I found both of you two guys very cool 😊👍🙏
  • @zephirol4638
lol I love how you always throw in some comedic relief in between the information. You two are both great.
  • Jesse Sensei's answer to your question at the 4 minute mark is spot on. This is why I like what he is dong and why I follow him.
  • @Seburo77
Wonderful interview. Very enlightening. Thanks, oss!! :)
  • @saifalhaq76
A SELLOUT!? He gives nothing but good moves and instructions
  • @DamnitDave
Gene SImmons from KISS was once asked "are you a sell out?" He responded "Every single night!" Nothing wrong with making money doing what you love
  • @michelb8976
Anyone misguided enough to thing badly of Jesse should go check the video he made about his mom. A such respectful son can't possibly be a bad person, and it also gives a good perspective on where he is coming from.
  • @walterhough4587
Great video. From experience what I caught on the end... My very first formal class / 35 years ago still affects and drives me today. Great video
