Nike Alphafly 3 - Compared to Alphafly 2 and Vaporfly 3

Publicado 2024-02-27
The Nike Alphafly 3 is a superb top-tier racer and the best Alphafly version to date but it’s not deserving of its megahype or its $285 price. While it lacks the ‘magical’ feeling, it still has a combination of critical features (light weight, firm, stable, efficient) which provide a high level of speed assistance to the runner. Version 3 is a much better version than 2. It has a continuous bottom which results in smoother transitions, a stiffer midsole and most importantly, a wider midfoot with less arch irritation.

  • Awesome Review! I love your background music! What song is it?

Brandon, nice review. I run in a 9.5 Vomero, and it's roomy in the front/back. Should I also run in a 9.5 size for AF3 with what I've described? Thanks!

Good review Brandon..the vaporfly is useless for me but the alphafly V-1 was my favorite distance shoe until the rocket x2..I always put a real insole in alphaflys so no issues with midfoot..there are 2 things I didn't like with V1 and V2 ..the forefoot cushioning goes flat, same as the vaporfly, so you're only running on the pods..and the heavy thick rubber forefoot makes it a harsh ride..I haven't used V3 cos it's not available here yet..your review sounds like they addressed the issues that affect me..I will find out when they are available here..thanks and your reviews are always on point..

I learned that I have exceptionally skinny feet lol. Not one Nike shoes has ever given me a problem, I went to my local fleet feet and they confirmed I have narrow feet. The alpha fly 2 was a good show for me.
  • I’m someone who over pronates but considering trying a super shoe - what would you recommend? Looking at the fuel cell supercomp v4 as I have wide feet
  • Currently on the hunt for a pair of race shoes for my Half Marathon. My budget is around €160 / $175. I’ll be aiming for the 1 hour 30 mark. Any ideas what shoe I could go for??

Good stuff. So do you feel it's a fast enough shoe
  • Sounds like this is a “Race Only” shoe, not for walking or casual wear?

your "opinion" on the AF2 is completly wrong maybe it doesnt work FOR YOU but to say all runners is cap cuz it worked wonders for me and i didnt develop a single blister making it my FAVORITE shoe thus far

I only have the Alphafly V1. I find it to be zero drop.. Added a heel wedge of 8mm saved me.. Don't have this problem at all in the Vaporfly V2.
  • @GrouEEf
Can confirm that the version 2 was extremely uncomfortable.
