I never would have found this old place without my metal detector

I was digging up stuff from 100 years ago way out in the woods metal detecting and I think I stumbled upon an old loggers camp landing. I went out to do a bit of exploring and metal detecting relic hunting in the abyss and followed a cart path wagon trail to this area. I had my Fisher F19 swinging as I walked and came to an area loaded with nail iron and other signals. Its all about the landscape history when doing this and you can see it had been logged at least 100 years ago. I dug up a Brookfield overalls button that is from the 1920's so there you go with the age of that. Cast iron stone parts and some old tools. It is always fun and a real good time doing this and finding old places lost in the forest. Overgrown and deserted a long time ago.

Charlie, I gotta say you’re blessed! Being able to live and comb the land where people have rarely seen. In the woods is where I find my peace 😊

Stoves & boilers were sledge hammered to make them light to move. LFOD !

That hunt was fascinating. I think you need Waynos to help clear out the junk, but history is there.

Thank you Charlie for the adventure , seeing beautiful scenery and some nice finds !
  • @MNpicker
Awesome stuff Charlie!! That "big nut" could very well be an axle nut off an old oxen/horse driven cart.. very cool finds

Grain scoop shovel you found at the end. Made of aluminum now. Worked at a museum with an operational grain elevator. Used the iron scoops and they are for mighty men compared to the aluminum.

As always thanks for the ride along. Definitely a good spot to bookmark for more future exploration. Shell casings are brass= recycle money once you've accumulated a little yes(?), and beyond that I would think there might be some collector interest too if they happen to be an obsolete or antique manufacturer or caliber or both.

Intriguing there was activity but no real signs of it. As they say, "Good thing you checked"

Don't forget the shovel! I enjoy the looking around nearly as much as the finds. Have a good day and thanks Charlie!

I have noticed that the forest floor has an incredible amount of dead wood lying around where you guys are hunting... Praying that no fires get going in there... Be Blessed and stay safe.... Thanks again, Charlie 🤠!!!!
