As a 60 year Bills fan and multi year season ticket holder, we loved Diggs, to a point. There is an old saying, "sometimes the juice is not worth the squeeze". #14 spent 5 seasons with Minnesota, at the end he did and said things that would indicate he wanted out, without actually saying that verbatim. Well, he has been with the Bills 2020 to 2024, 5 years, and guess what? Buffalo is not the place to play those games. It's team first here, no matter who you are. JMHO --gary

We had digs in MN! Total pain in the butt if he wasn’t thrown to every play! Big time whiner and terrible teammate! You didn’t lose out!

If Diggs does not have near 80 targets by mid season the reality will kick in that he lost 3 years of a very good contract. His anger has blinded him.
  • Diggs was a big part of their problem. If the play wasnt designed to go to him he would just give up. He wouldnt run routes right which meant other players couldnt get open. So many of these schemes now a days are all about bumping a defender or making them choose a route. Then when you got a guy who wont do his job unless hes getting the ball and it means other people cant get open.
  • Josh would force into double coverage JUST to give Diggs his attempts & keep him happy. Hopefully now Josh can play more freely.

This is a very sensible analysis. If Diggs wasn't a head-case, Bills would have kept him for another year, but the bigger picture he outlines is 100% correct

Haven't anyone one of these so called analysts see the writing on the wall? This bills team was just fine without Diggs and Davis productivity throughout the season. Last time I checked, this is a team sport. This bills team is not rebuilding, it's adjusting.
  • As a bills fan in Buffalo, Josh doesn’t need diggs. If anything Josh plays better when he goes through the progression instead of forcing things to Diggs. Ergo the last 8 games of the season when diggs got less looks but the offense was more balanced. The offense will have Josh Allen, a great Oline. James Cook. Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox. Shakir, Samuel, shorter and Isabella. With probably 2 receivers in a receiver heavy draft. The bills will still be a top 7 offense in the league. And if Allen gets yet another 4500 yards and 45 tds without diggs is he gunna be an mvp finally?

Wow. An intelligent well thoughtout detailed and in my opinion accurate analysis. Bills are in a two draft mini rebuild. Everything they are doing makes total sense if you ignore the reactionary nonsense that currently prevails in sports journalism.

Diggs had great hands, Allen spent too much time forcing the ball to Diggs missing other opportunities. Diggs is a crybaby.
  • @ricblic901
If you look at the Bills depth chart last year Shakir was Diggs backup. When a backup out performs the starter changes are made. Especially if those issues are that the starter has lost a step.

BUILD for the future. Love what Buffalo have done :) Some supporters need to stop living in the past!
  • @Present4
Most veteran WRs are overrated and overpaid.

As Bills fan, there were always something you could depend on. 1. Diggs hinting at this, hinting at that, acting like he wanted to be traded, then not. Then tweating something cryptic, then saying he loved Buffalo, and on and on. 2. Josh Allen being ultra classy through all of it. Kudos to Josh. Josh is our guy forever. Receivers who are here to work ... get ready to catch some lasers!
  • Bills did total fine with Diggs playing a lesser role come mid-season. Joe Brady's balanced, patient approach is working well.
  • Oddly enough, fans treated Tre White and Mitch Morse with respect even after leaving. So the claim that fans are just selfish and evil falls apart.
  • @marks5759
You know to actually go back and watch the tape, teams stopped doubling Diggs and rolling coverage on him. No one feared him beating them 1 on 1 anymore. Go listen to Greg Cosell he breaks it down perfectly, DIGGS is not a #1 anymore, he does not eat up double teams over the top safety anymore, hasn't for a while.
  • @stevewest6133
Finally an intelligent take on this topic. The Bills are trying to build a younger roster. Period.

The Buffalo Bills decided to trade Stefan Diggs to the Texans, even though it would have been $3 million cheaper to keep him on the team. The Bills' desire a reset year in 2024 moving past off-field drama, and some aging and injury prone players. The Bills offloaded veteran players and will now rebuild around QB Josh Allen, ensuring clean financials and a younger team in the future. The trade also benefitted Diggs, as he now has the opportunity to test free agency after the upcoming season. Overall, the trade was viewed as a strategic move by both teams.
